hello all

i,m driving currently a clio dynamique 53 plate 1.2 16v, nippy little car but a bit small for me and sick and tired of the niggling problems that comes with it:
rattlling and rumbling and expesnive maitanance costs.

so i came across this cupra here and it doesnt sound or look to bad.

I dont know much about seat, all i know they use VW engines, never been in one and dont know how reliable and the quality of them are.

the car:

A 2004 Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.8T 20v in Metallic grey.

Full Cupra spec including Brembo brakes (what so special about this) , climate control, aluminum sports pedals, 17" alloy wheels with recent new set of 4 Continental Contact Sport tyres (any good?).

Comprehensive fuel consumption history from 3000 miles to present (no idea about this). Full service history. Just had service & MOT. 19000 Miles.

£7000.00

what do you think of this anyone please?

do these come with:

cd player - how good is the sound system?

what are they like to drive on motorways (are they loud, is the engine loud)

does it come with audio stalk control for the cd player and radio

please get back to me and thanks for reading this :)

the brakes on it arent brembos like the leon cupra r's, they are AP racing brakes and they are very good!! no need to upgrade them at all...do the job quite well.

I've got an 06 cupra in petrol and im impressed by them. still brings a smile to my face and i've had it since june 06! quite comfortable to drive long distances.

the standard speakers are pretty good, can be turned up without distorting the sound and has a nice little bit of bass to them aswell! no idea what an audio stork control is though!!

driving down motorways in them is fine, isnt loud at all. i find my car is best suited at motorway speeds, hardly drinks any petrol i find!

Price seems to be pretty good aswell for the age and mileage of the car

Let us no how u get on!!

thanks for that mate

i',m not sure if its stalk control or steering wheel control that comes with seats, it basically controls your radio and cd player.

does yours not have it.

i read as well that they tend to rattle from the dash and something about squeeking when they are wet.

i,m glad to hear that they can keep the road noise away, must be very well sound insulated.

i,m not sure if this one is petrol but i think it is.

hows the build quality on them? and reliability (dont want another clio tbh)

thanks

some come with steering wheel mounted audio controls
not all of them

motorways, due to the low profile tyres, there is a lot of tyre noise, but better than some cars ive driven, and is quite economical on the mway too, i got 36mpg yesterday on way back from brands hatch, doing 80mph ish

from the clio to this, you wont regret it, bit of a jump, but hey why not!

go for it
lookis a good un, i looked at this one (only on the net) the other day

i find its really good on the motorways sitting about 80mph really doesn't use that much fuel, Ive got the steering wheel controls for the stereo but mines an 07 so they may of changed it later???

hey everyone

thanks for all your feedback, can the steering control be fitted or added by dealer?

whats the build quality and reliability like?

i hope is not like the clio.

do they actully use VW manufacturing plants and parts?

how much tax is it for taht type of car?

Thanks

Steering wheel controls were fitted to cars from November 06 onwards.

Build quality is generally good, the odd squeak or rattle after thousands of miles. Reliability is excellent; the 1.8 20v turbo unit has been used in loads of VW / Audi cars without many serious issues (TT, Golf Mk IV, A3, Passat... I could go on).

Tax is reasonable, £165 for 12 months.

The ibiza is basically a VW polo buth with a different interior and outer shell. Otherwise near enough everything is identical except that the cupra gets better brakes, more powerful engines and better suspension.

If your really into music the stereo will suck though but its really simple to upgrade. Most of us on here have.

The engine that is in the ibiza cupra was also used in the MK1 Audi TT. Reliability has been good for me on my 1.4 and it lives a very hard life.

Its a big jump up from a clio 1.2 btw, you are gonna love everything about it apart from the insurance premiums lol.
