Thinking of selling my 2010 Cupra R, but what's it worth?

Dont be flooding the market now!!!

I'm gonna see about the cost of getting the wheels refurbed properly. Will probably be around £100 per wheel right? will it add £400 to the price though?

Might play it by ear. Time to wash it and get some pics i thinks!

Damn it man! Must be that time of year!

Actually they're a in the £15-£16k region so mine would look good at £13.5k !

Question now, Autotrader, Pistonheads, EBay classifieds or all three? Haven't sold a decent car in so long I don't know what the process is anymore Lol!!!

Tatty wheels would put me off a car big time, it would instantly make me think it's not been loved and just bounced up kerbs etc....for me it wouldn't be a case of "is it worth doing and would I get the money back" it would be more a case of doing it to make it more attractive to a potential buyer if you're serious about selling.

The R wheels are a bit of a bugger to keep in good condition because of the design they are so prone to stone chips and accidental scuffing.

Good condition, average miles I'd say ~£14k. If it looks like it needs a little TLC then you'd need to be looking more at £12,500-13k I'd say.

Yes, i agree some people would be put off. Which is why i originally said someone who's a perfectionist would want to get them refurbished. Its not in show room condition, and i'm not planning on asking for showroom condition money! I was thinking putting it on for £13,500 and seeing what the response is.

Personally i don't think the alloys are that bad. I've touched them up with black lacquer and you can't tell there's any issues from the photos i took yesterday, but if you get on your hands and knees you will see plenty of "wear and tear" all around the car.

So here's another question, how honest should you be in selling the car?

The car is 4 years old, it has done 51000 miles now, so in my opinion you should expect plenty of wear and tear!

The honest bits: its has a dog in the boot on a regular occasion and sometimes a surfboard on the roof!!!
Yesterday I found a second supermarket parking ding on the nearside rear passenger door!
There are some scratches on the black plastic backing to the front seats due to transporting things from Ikea etc.
I also scraped one of the black side skirts on a rock placed stealthily in a grass verge the week after i bought it, you cannot see it until you get on your hands and knees, but a perfectionist might want to get that skirt replaced, it doesnt bother me in the slightest though, as you can't see it unless your head is on the ground!!!

I hate the idea of selling the car because I love it, I'm only selling it because i want something i can tow with! (i have my eye on a beautiful silver 335bhp Jap Subaru Forester STi!)

So, do i put pics of the damage in the add, or leave a buyer to come and have a look and spot it for themselves? What's likely to put them off more?

This is such a pain in the ass....!!! :help::help::help:

If I was to sell it on here I would state the damage as you don't want to get yourself a bad name ect but maybe in autotrader you could say that the car reflects the mileage ect.

Always be honest mate, especially if you're planning on selling it on here, as Oli said you'd only get flamed if you try to sell something and make out it's flawless when it isn't.

If the car is as you've described it above then I think you should be pitching around £12,500-12,750 tops really, because it sounds like there are a number of issues that would mean you could only list the car as being in "fair" condition and that should be reflected in the price.

I think everyone can appreciate that a car will have stone chips, that's just one of those unavoidable things that only a re-spray will solve, but I think I'd prefer to see an honest car rather than one touched up.

I've pitched mine at £14k and I'm confident that I have described it accurately, there are a few people on here that can vouch for the condition of my car so I'd feel like a bit of a fraud if I tried to pass it off as something it isn't.

It would need to be absolutely mint for that money, no little marks, knicks or anything, covered few miles though.

Id agree, that is dealer price. Mine was a bit cheaper than this, it only had 17k miles when I bought it earlier this year. It also came with an extended warrantee, 2 services and a few other bit and bobs that a main dealer could offer.

Is that a sun roof i spot on it too?

I think you've pitched it a little high personally, given the faults you've described, but time will tell.

If the right person is out there and don't mind minor defects since there no massive dints ect you will get it.

Also people do like the red and black theme and I don't think I've seen one before with gloss black side skirts aswell.

I would have yours Leigh if it want over priced ;)
