Thought it was coil pack but now wont start?!

Hi,

My LCR started to sound rough and misfire when idling to the point the battery light would come on then car would cut out. I thought it was coil packs so checked each one as per threads on hear but and seemed ok but now the car wont even start. Battery is fine and charged so at a real lost of what it could be :-(

Any ideas?????

wont start or wont turn over?

i have seen a few were the oil pick up has starved the engine and its seized.

do you have access to vag com?

it wont turnover, it was till this morning and just idling really bad but now cant get it to turn over or anything.

Unfortunately i dont have access or know anyone with Vag com :-(

hopefully its something and nothing. the car i looked at was the same, lack of power rough idle, then the engine seized. what i wasn't told was the oil pressure warning light had been on.

it could be an immobaliser problem too though

Thanks chap, had someone look at it and no fault codea, new plugs and coils ok, injectors ok. This leaves the oil - it is quite thick and black been advised that as it is so thick and of course cold that it can not get through the hydrolic tapets?

This sound like a potential problem? Going to change all the oil and give it a go but thought id update for now.

Back to basics here i think.

You are getting dash lights ok then you turn the key and what...nothing?

Yep all dash lights ok turn and it trys to start/fire but its not quite turning over and actually starting up if that makes sense

The battery turning the engine fast enough to start or does it sound really slow?

battery or starter motor are potentials, although the fact it ran rough before is interesting.

how have you checked the coils are ok?

The battery does turn the engine fast enough when that slowed i charged the battery up and tried again but still same.
Coils were tested with by putting a imatation test spark plug in and turning engine, this lit up so the guy said they were fine i taking his word for that really

Lol sounds just like mine both times when the vavle come off. Id take the plugs out and see if anything has hit them.

So now i have changed the oil and filter and plugs. Fuel is fine and gettin gto the injectors so now i am really stuck! Even had the rocker cover off to check the cams but all looks in order
