I bougth 118cm years ago for my Leon ST (size as Thule recommended), now I see Thule recommends 108cm for Formentor, but I will definitely not shorten them. Just use them as usual.. I do not see any issue with that.

It’s sometimes the length of the cut out channel section underneath that’s the issue.
I tried to fit Thule bars off my old Volvo onto my Legacy.
The overall length was fine and the front bar fitted and clamped in place.
However with the rear bar, the channel underneath at either side wasn’t the correct spacing.
I debated drilling out a bit more from each side underneath but in the end just bought a couple of used ones instead.
So might not seem a lot of difference but if they’re fitting to screw in mounted fixings they may be different.
Not sure where roof fixings are on new Leon’s and Formentor.

Good point Nathan, will try that in the evening!
If I remember well, there was enough space to be covered by the Thule aero slider so I hope it fits..

Roof foots are of course different - Leon has integrated rails while Formentor has raised rails.
I have two sets of foots, as VW Golf Variant has raised rails as well.
And the ones which fits Leon hardly fits another car model.

So, just tested it alive.
My old 118cm bars with old Thule 775 kit fits easily to the very end of rails on Formentor. There is still additional at least 5cm at each side for even narrower mounting.
To my surprise they are not sticking out unnaturally! Just fits!!

This is 775 kit:

Thanks for this, so the 118cm fit ok then with the underside cutout and do they not stick out too far? I don't want my beautiful formentor to look like an aeroplane with wings!

I'm trying to buy used so can't exactly send back if they don't fit
