I went to see a well known car tuner in Plymouth and asked about remapping my 54 LCR, he stated that on a dyno the best numbers he has seen for a standard car was 195-205 bhp and hes seen loads, he also said that after only one remap the engine will not produce the type of numbers revo state thay have acheived, but it should be around a real 230 with a stronger mid range, as a novice to the tuner side of things is he talking crap or is this right? he said he will run my car on a dyno before to prove his claims but thats only when ive agreed to have the work carried out on my motor...:help:

I'm not sure about those standard figures. They don't seem to match up with what others have seen on this forum. Having said that the remap should be adding around the same amount of BHP no matter what the starting figure is.

To answer your question I think you should go for the remap. I'm not sure which 'well known tuner' you are talking about but I have tried both Revo and APR. My preference being APR.

I didn't think they did R's in the 180bhp I'm sure R's are 210bhp and 225bhp. And with any good maper should see around 30bhp and torque figures to match. On aspirated cars without any other mods

I'm sure I've read that both the 210 and 225 (bear in mind this is actually PS and not BHP) remap to the about same level.

Is that quoted power at the wheels?

Sounds like Alan Jefferies? He is a Superchips dealer, I would stick with the well known VAG tuning options which are discussed many times on here, Superchips are not rated that well for some reason on the 1.8t lump. He may be quoting wheel power by the way so double check this first.

Your right it was Alan Jefferies but didn`t want to name him , and he did feed me a load of bollocks about superchips which I thought was strange, thanks anyway. Warren

Apr / Revo / Jabba and Customcode are your friends!!! (note the spacing to ensure they get their fair dues on the sponsorship!)
