Hi all,

First post here - very happy owner of a 2019 Leon 5F with the 2.0tsi 190hp engine.

I am debating getting it remapped at some point in the future by REVO (Inspired by this post ) but the fact it was on flexible servicing when I bought it puts me off. (Bought at ~55,000 miles). The oil change intervals vary anywhere between 9,000 - 16,000 miles, and were done by the main dealer.

I've read all sorts of conflicting information about the impact of so-called 'long-life' servicing, but consensus here is that it does the engine no good... I am mindful a remap will put extra strain on the engine and I would like to keep the car running healthy as long as possible. What's are people's thoughts?

The biggest 'strain' for the car - is the driver!
An inconsiderate/unsympathetic driver could ruin a standard powertrain!
If you're remapping it to get a better time on the drag strip them you will surely shorten it's life!
I have often thought of remapping my 184tdi - but then I think of how often I 'give it the beans' even in its standard tune it is not often! It is already quick enough for a road car/daily to lose your licence!
Then you have the resale value which is probably less for a remapped car.

Great answer - Cheers!

I am very happy to have remapped (because my car spends a lot of time on the race track) but you have to accept shorter life / greater cost (failed parts and shorter servicing). But dont forget to ask your insurance company about how much it would cost

The flexible servicing is a good thing in my view. You've had more servicing than some. My TDI was on 20,000 mile LL as it had been a company car. I shifted it to 10k and then 5k due to high mileage. It seems to appreciate it (as well as BP Ultimate).

The best question is why do you want to remap? The car should be quick enough already. Like others have said, a remap won't necessarily break the car, your driving style might. Also depends what sort of remap you get. If you want to keep it stock and in good condition for resale it's possibly not worth it. I've toy'd with the idea but like @SuperV8 I've got the 184 TDI and it goes pretty well. If I want something faster I should get a Cupra 300 or something. My next car will be petrol as I just don't do the mileage anymore.

I installed a chip tuning box in my previous A4 8K, good in reducing the turbo lag and also improved the fuel economy (5% better, perhaps?).

The bad thing was it had severely disrupted the sensors so much that after around 3 years of use, engine lights kept coming on even after clearing the fault codes. No more warning light after removing it for good.
