Hey guys, just got back from an extended motorway run and a couple of times during the drive my right indicator developed a problem where it flashed at double speed! The problem only seemed to be with the right indicator and it did correct itself.

I guess this is likely to be a loose wire but can anyone make any suggestions about where I should look?

I had the exact same problem a while back, turned out that the right front indicator bulb holder was loose, so the bulb was rattling around in the socket if you see what I mean.... think it was interfering with the connection occasionally and manifested like the bulb had gone-hence the fast indicator.

might be worth checking something along those lines.....

:)

I had this a while ago, it was the front right indicator, when i removed the holder or touched it it started working again dont know what it was exactly but its not happened for a while now.

its the metal contacts in the base of the holder, mine does it after track days. Take the bulb out and bend the cntacts towards you with something plastic

Bulb holders arnt what they used to be, always changing them on vw cars.

Could be something to do with the fact that the wires out the back of that socket are too short, or clamped in a stupid way. They are under tension, and it probably pulls the contacts in the housing.

hey guys just searched this thread because my indicactor is flashing and clicking really fast when i indicate right, so from reading this i asume everyone has checked the bulbs in the rear? anything else i can do to sort this?

jamesy, it was my FRONT right indicator that was faulty, i unplugged it cleaned the connections, plugged it back in and made sure the bulb was securely back in place, been absolutely fine since!

I had a similar problem on mine but it was both left & right intermitantly. Did all of the above (checked housings, cleaned contacts etc...) but it still didn't resolve the problem, turned out it was the relay built into the hazard switch. Just replaced the hazard switch and job done! :D

i had this problem the day after i picked my lcr up was on the right aswell, thought the bulb may have blown due to the condensation. must just be another one of the problems thats happens with lcr's
