Read the evo mag issue 184 which also had the TDi 184 FR in there. They thought, that the 1.4 TSI engine suits the chassis better and because its lighter it will be more nimble. evo also mentioned, that in slower corners the front wheels tend to struggle with the tourque on offer. But obviously that's down to road conditions as well.
This ofcourse is good news, as I've had my eyes on the 1.4 TSI anyway.

Does anyone know why there is no DSG option on this engine? It can't be torque reasons as my DSG copes nicely with the 315 ft/lb I have available.
I do wonder if its a VAG 'order' perhaps? Yes, Seat you can use the engine first, but if people want a DSG they will have to get the Golf GTD (and pay through the nose)
