Hi.

I've got a 2001 Toledo, 2.3 V5 170. The front suspension springs have broken, so I'm replacing the shocks, springs & top mounts & bearings this weekend.

My question is - does anyone have an exploded diagram of the order in which the top mounts & bearings are fitted?

Because the tops of both springs are broken (car been sitting for 6 months, on a steep downward slope), I can't see where the bearings fit in relation to the rubber bushes (inside, outside, top, bottom etc.).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Kieron.

right so starting from the spring you then put the top hat on with the nut to hold down
then the bearing , then the rubber mount then the next nut
put up in to the strut tower fit the final top hat and bolt down

but bear in mind the centre of the damper spins and an impact gun will make your life easier here

when I change my coilovers this weekend ill take some pics for you

Cheers spudboy6.

I've had a quick look & the order you suggest is a bit different?
What i've got is - spring over the damper, then bearing on damper spindle so it seats on the shoulder, then rubber top mount sits into the top of the spring, then spindle pulls through the fixed top hat/strut mount & nut on spindle to secure to the fixed top hat/strut mount.

I dont seem to have these steps -
right so starting from the spring you then put the top hat on with the nut to hold down
then the bearing , then the rubber mount then the next nut
put up in to the strut tower fit the final top hat and bolt down

Seems a bit strange?

Excellent. I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow.

Thanks mate.

All done spudboy6.
Where the top ring on the coil had snapped, it had pushed the rubber top mount up over the top nut. So after I dismantled the damper, then put the new damper, spring, bearing, rubber top mount etc. on, feels like a different car.
Thanks for your advice & help mate.
Kieron.
