Toyosport Intercooler Fitting Problem's?

Why do you need to have this done? the leon kit comes with these already in place.

The advantage the Toyosport kit has over other kits of (i.e. unversal eBay) is that the pipes are beaded (except for the take offs) so the only real weak points are the couplers, clamps and loosing the fogs (never used them anyway).

It's been years since I've carried tools in my car - but since fitting the Toyosports FMIC I carry a 10mm spanner and jubilee clip tool in the boot. Until I've sorted and tested the boost leaks I will not drive hard.

I think that some people also confuse a boost leak for increased turbo spool.

The specialists are all right - pay more for less hassel.

How old is you kit? All my joiners were fine and the clamps

The hot side is a pain to fit but for tge money you save its worth it ;) toyo are a wel recognised name these days and they make alot of good quality stuf :)

And with the vac and dv off takes all you need to do is slightly mushroom it mines never came off you will need to cut the DV hoes down to a different shape ;) I'll get a pic of mine for ya

Had it a couple of months I recon.

I will agree that as time has pasted and the shine of the off takes has reduced due to the pipes sliding back, plus I'm more on top of checking them. So it is fairly infrequent now.

With regards to the silicon couplers and the clamps... I think that mine are only 2-ply and thus are a little thin and loose fitting. I would of expected to have to use a little force to push them on to the pipes, but they simply slipped on and rely on the clamps creating a tight seal. So on the smaller diameter pipe work I think the thin 2-ply meant the clamp is almost overly done up to create a good seal.

The coupler to the turbo I think should of been something like 45-51mm reducer rather than a straight 51mm. there was defo a few mm's of slack in the fit.

Still I might of just been unlucky or expecting more than I got?

I'd be interested in seeing how yours is fitted.
 
I think i am going to source a universal cooler core and make up my own fitted pipework im pretty handy so it should be doable with a bit of time and patience.

Going to get the car off the road for a week in the new year and use a samco, forge catalogue and measure it all up order and fit it so i dont have to cut anything and everything is secure and looking pretty, and above all works perfectly, i think i will use mostly silicone bends and straights, with a few straight ali coupling pipes, keep an eye out for some sweet looking engine bay antics i have some aweome ideas planned.

As regards to cooler cores anybody stumbled across any good buys, the tx autosport core looks pretty good value?

my only worry is making a map sensor housing may just cad it and get it lasered out in ali and ali weld it to a section of pipe, anyone know where you can get a map sensor housing pipe coupler or is that wishful thinking? may have to go diy on that or use the oe one?
 
Forge sell map pipes. £30ish i think?

Did you????? i thought from seeing your thread you were running the car without the drivers side grill in, then cut a chunk out of it, i want to fit an install without this mickey mouse approach no offence i want it to be perfect, its the only way i operate.
 
You het map pipe with toyo kit and I managed to get mo's bumper to fit without cutting the grill ;) I have replaced them

I believe you still have to trim the bumper with the forge kit as it is a twin pass kit , not that any one will see you have trimmed it

Perfect.....lol

But yeah anyway, I just need to push the pipe back a bit, ain't had the time to do this, many have fitted it perfectly behind the grills....
 
LCR Toyosports custom Intercooler users..

Is there any chance I can have a list of parts used, Possibly via PM?

Some I know use the aluminium bends route (45/90 degree), others use the silicone bends, I am talking about the 57mm outlet Intercooler,

really appreciate the help,

when you say parts used what specifically do you mean? pipe work?? have you cought a whole kit??
 
I have a selection of sili bends inc the reducers and alu joiners, clamps and the BIG Toyo cooler,

Think I have what I need so far but need to know whats needed to get it actually working,

Surely someone has an LCR and the Toyo = my answer?
 
i know that some on here have done the toyo on LCR think Wayne my have done it
