And as for those people who told me I should pay more attention when looking at a car when buy one...yeah right! Like ya going to go ALL over a car, take the rubbers back, check every f'ing nut and bolt, look underneth, be totally anal...if it come from a MAIN SEAT DEALER you trust them to a degree! And my car was well covered up, it wasnt till I looked long and hard I found the faults...some people have lower levels of expectance then others!

think this tread needs to be closed now!

To be honest it sounds like you didn't do any checks over the car before you bought it though. Rough running and bad brakes are something you should have picked up on through a very basic test drive. I have to laugh though at your statement about trusting the dealer... Come on!!! What is the difference between trusting a car salesman over anyone else, and that's assuming the salesmen even knows what the car was used for previously, and I bet they didn't.

Personally when I go to see a car I'll check whatever I like on the car. If that means pulling a rubber seal off to have a look then I'll do it. It's my money, I check the car properly.

Oh, and for the record the Dealer is a client of mine and im 100% sure they never knew the car had problems like I discovered!

If your as anal to pull rubbers back and look for overspray god I feel sorry for you!

But im glad some people are on my side over this and to them I thank you, to the others, thank you!

You know what to look for but you didn't spot lumpy idling or brakes not working properly?

Oh and if I'm spending over £10k of MY money, I'll look for some overspray yeah. Then again, I've never bought a shitter either

Oh my god! Mate you need to grow up!

I aint wasting my time biting on your stupid comments. One day this might happen to you, and I hope it does! No matter how good you think you are the wool can be pulled over your eyes!

And for the record, Brembos take time to warm up (but I guess you would'nt know that) and the lumpy tickover might have been due to the engine being cold..I did take it to another dealer who told me that it's not too bad, but could be a little better!

What do you drive?

I think you're missing the point somewhat

because he checked his car thoroughly he knew it's background before hand.

Dont give me that! So he has followed JP around all the time he was driving it?

"Ignorance is no defence in most people's eyes" look, the cars go back to Seat, the car gets fixed, the car gets sold off.....if there are problems its upto you to find them out. So a pro motorsport driver was its owner, might be a great car, and good for them. So JP drove it, so what!

So lets recap....

1. Im a knob for not checking the car by taking it apart bolt by bolt

2. You must never trust an approved Seat dealer

3. Ex Seat track cars are well looked after

4. Did I mention I a Knob?

....thats about that then!

what a thrashed LCR??? LMFAO!!!!!

Yes I currently own one of Jason Platos company cars. I think I'd already implied that in an earlier post.

When I went to see the car I asked to be taken to see the car rather than it brought to me to drive, checked it over visually AND made sure it was stone cold before it was started and listened to it... Then took it on a good test drive, testing it drove in a straight line, would stop in a straight line, and that it would stop how it should when the brakes were stood on. Which it did and after that test the dealer tightened his seat belt

After that I left it running and again checked the car over properly... The bonnet had had a respray. Which was queried, but mecanically it was fine.

After that I researched the car before buying, and found it was JP's comapny car, did I change my mind? No because I'd checked the car was ok and was confident....

As for brembos only working when warm LMAOB... Every R I've driven has had brakes that worked from cold. So I think you might have been fed some :censored: there...

Would be nice , as this is ment to be full of like minded people, to not be cut down and made out to be a twat for not checking the car! THATS ALL!

I think you did that making generalisations about silver LCR's in the first post you put in this thread.

My point is many of the members on this forum have bought Ex SEAT UK cars without any problems what so ever, probably because they checked the cars were fine before buying. If you want to be sure get an independant check by the AA or RAC etc. As said I've bought 4 SEAT cars and never had a mechanical problem.

Wow, things are heating up.

I think in conclusion we can safely say that there is a certain amount of psychology that comes into buying a car. Your there are the dealers, you see the LCR and think funk me, what a machine...so already your mind is saying "im funkin buying that"...................

You go round checking the car, you spot a few and what appear to be minor descrepancies, but in your mind you have the rep of buying from a dealer so nothing is gonna go Pete Tong with the car, and the fact that you fancy the pants off this LCR....... so a few minor things wont change your mind......Hope ive made some sort of sense with that.

Cupra Kid - Nobody is saying your a nob, you were just unfortunate that you got sold a rat's left testicle (not sure if they have testicles but u know what i mean)

But i really dont think that you can knock all silver LCR's or all Ex Seat UK cars.
You seem very angry so i guess thats whats causing you to assume things.

Off topic - rats do have testicles, quite large testis! Thought I'd clear that up.

Not related to this thread debate but when I had my track Day with SEAT in Sept. 2005 most of the LCR's we used were silver. We totally thrashed them, thats what they were for, car handled well under hard braking (no where near as well as the New Leon that I had the free lap with at WTCC but you get the picture. All a matter of weighing up what it handles like and the price paid -theres always a balance:)

cupra kid i wasnt calling you a nob directly just anyone really who spends a load of cash on a car and doesnt properly check it over / get checked over by someone clued up, sorry if you fell into that catorgory, but to say you did check it over doesnt do your judgement any favours, its the norm to check for overspray / dodgy lines / engine / brakes / steering, some by looking and others by driving it

My concern about this thread is the generalisation that all low mileage silver LCRs were track cars.

I bought mine from a dealer that had pre registered the car and it had 50 miles on the clock. I would have thought that it would have done more miles just getting to the track if it had been near one!!!

When I come to sell mine, which has now done 4,500 miles and is 9 months old, will people assume that it was a track car straight away? I hope not.

Think I need to clear a few things up with what I've been saying...deep breath.....

Right, I have never said all silver LCR's with a few k's worth of miles are all ex track cars....what I said was...It looks like Silver ones are more at risk of having this as there past, esp if it was an ex Seat reg/special ops car. It was another member of the site that got my attention with his comment "DONT GET ANOTHER SILVER ONE"...you can hunt around for that on another thead...I am just echo'in his comment to me about my horror story!

I'd love another Silver car, it was my prefered colour tbh, but ever since I posted what has happened to me I really have my doubts about that colour car. I know its unfair to tar all Silver ones with the same brush, but thats how I feel, its ME, just ME.

And before I can on here and posted my problems I never knew that Seat used Silver, when I went on a track day they was yellow and had roll cages!!! And, no, I would never buy one of those, christ no!

Sorry if I have offended owners of Silver LCR's :(

Im not going to comment about my lack of intelligence when checking out the car, because none of you can really comment about my car or experiance regarding this...lets just leave it as unfortunate!

And as for ex Seat cars being dodgy....I'd just like to say my replacement is another ex Seat car6 months old with under 500miles on, not much could have happend to that!...or could it!?! Oh, and it not Silver, its Platinum this time, could'nt find me a Silver one!!!

So to sum up...Sorry if I have offended other LCR owners, it was not my intention, I just didnt want other people to get funked over like I did...and the dealer come to mention it. While i've mentioned the dealer, I'd like to say how great they have been with me and my problem.

Oh, and no, I never pulled back the rubbers on my replacement to look!

Again, sorry guys :(
