My traction control stopped working briefly today during wheel spin in first three gears. Also burning clutch smell is this normal on a remapped cr 170 fr. Road was wet n had leaves on but it spun wheels with no traction light

Could do with scanning it to see if there's any error codes with regards to the traction control light not coming on (provided you haven't hit the button to turn it off).

I wouldn't have thought the car had enough power to burn the clutch out, unless you've ridden the clutch too much. You must have been driving it pretty hard to get wheel spin in third gear.

high reving engine in all gears whilst flooring it then with a stink of clutch and no traction control kicking in are you 100% it was wheelspining and not just the clutch sliping

Exactly, you were slipping the clutch and burning it out. You obviously didn't break traction. Traction control comes in when it detects one wheel rotating faster than the others. This won't happen if you're slipping the clutch. You have too much torque for your clutch to handle.

Probably new clutch time. This is the problem with mapping a 170.

Its under warranty so ill be calling them in morning to check it. I cant get it to do the same again though! As I said road was very wet and covered in leaves. Ill be getting it checked regardless. I dont think my car is pushing out loads more than normal though I haven't had a dyno printout yet

Did you just have DPF removal or DPF removal and performance remap? I doubt John has pushed it to more than it can handle with standard components.

Be careful how you go about that, if it's a seat manufacturer warranty and they drive it or scan it, notice the DPF or software has been manipulated then you'll end up forking out of your own pocket.

It's also standard protocol to carry out a full system scan with every warranty claim now, once that scam is sent online to Seat UK and assessed your vehicle can end up being flagged and have limited warranty cover for items such as the engine and clutch.

MJ the dealer paid for his DPF software in the first place as they couldn't solve his DPF issues. It was a SEAT main dealer too.

True it was bristol street who paid for the work done and its their warranty so I think I should have good chance of getting it done. Ive tried today to replicate it and cant . The car drives fine and I cant get clutch to slip at all. Still think ill get it looked at for piece of mind. Just wish I didnt have to use main dealer

You don't have to, but going else where will mean you'll definitely have to pay!

Andy at ACR is an independent specialist, he has a Facebook page but no website I believe. He's a master of VAG cars and custom wiring looms, his place is right next to croft circuit. I took my 1.2TSi in to him and he only charged me £100 to supply and fit new NGK Spark plugs, scan all codes on the car, run all compression tests etc. so I can't complain really. So he could be an option for you...
