ok this is getting silly now, can someone put my mind at rest. I need to know whether my car has a fault with the TC so I can take it to the garage, basically I dont think it is working. I get the same amount of wheelspin whether it is on or off, when it is on, it does flash like it should but there is no power being taken away. I have just had it Revo'd and I cannot pull away in 1st without serious wheelspin but this was the case before Revo too, surely with the TC on this shouldn't happen.

If this is the same for everyone then I will just put up with it.

I find (tho a diesel) that in wet conditions if I have TC off that I cant get power down in anything below 4th if I really give it some hammer, whilst if I had TC on, and I boot it 1st, it would try, flash and then bam no power at all, and will nearly stall! I'd say do a little brainaic (sp?!) test, throw loads of water down and see if it trys to stall with TC on!?

Failing that, depending where abouts you are in the country, get yaself to a few meets im sure if someone jumps in with you and you give it a bit of grief, they will be able to tell if its broke!

cheers for the replys, the TC light blinks on and off but it still spinning the wheels like mad. Ive read on here that if the tc is linked to the abs so I guess I need to test the abs also, if this isn't working it would suggest a problem

do you keep your foot down when this happens? the revs wil still stay at about 3k if you leave your foot down
, does the speedo still go up then when the tc light is flashing?

if you have a rear brake light out iirc, the TC doesnt work. Have you checked that?

I do yeah, the revs shouts up to the redline with TC light flashing like hell, it evens makes the car jump about, I went out again just now and in 1st gear WITHOUT tc as soon as the turbo spins up wheelspin is frantic, with TC on it is less frantic but still wheelspins to the redline. Am i expecting too much, I mean
evreytime I accelerate now I have to balance the power in the first two gears. Although the car is alot faster, I dont think I have benefitted 0-60 in fact I wouldn't be surprised if its slower

ah if the revs keep rising then tc isnt cutting in but the light is working i would get it checked out

Im sure red cupra tdi had a problem with his TC and ABS and it was because of the rear light bulb being blown iirc.

TBH, the car will be faster with TC off, and you feeding in power anyway, wheelspinning will never get you, your quickiest 0-60 etc!

Tho can be fun to scare muppet's when they pull out infront of you at Junctions etc!

true but if the conditions are crap, I would like to have piece of mind in knowing Im not going to spin off.

ok phoned the dealers and told them about the issue, their diagonosis is that thats what its like. he said if the light is flickering then its doing its job. Im still not buying it, I think I should test drive another one to compare

if the power is not being taken away then the connection from the tc to the brakes is faulty when i floor it in 1st with tc on it wheelspins for a bit then takes pritty much all the power away then slowly picks up to be honest with you the traction control is :censored: .H.I.T imo do you have the esp control button fitted to your cupra?

Yes all the cupra's have ESP as standard. Its the button down near the handbrake like u said. TBH in 1st my TC doesnt do ****, 2nd sometimes it really cuts the power for about 3-4 seconds sometimes, but in the wet it will wheelspin in 4th gear without too much effort.

i thought it was an optional exta mayb im wrong? but yeah esp on right handside of centre consol near handbreak

so it doesn't cut in at all in 1st, mine will just blink at about 6k and soesn't come in at all in 2nd, Im starting to think it might be down to the revo software, I just think its bringing in all the power and torque too early so the TC hasn't got a chance. I just want to be able to spank it in 1st but I cant  man I miss my scooby now

REVO is enormous fun but I think it makes the car virtualy undriveable and the power just gets span away, I hope all this is just due to the cold weather

on the plus side I got 38mpg today which was a mixture of town and motorway, thats about 5 up on standard:funk:

uve probably heard it before but you will get used the the car and the limit you can take it to till it spins and wen you find that ul have no probs traction control doesnt allow your car to grip on fast pull aways it just cuts the power till the wheels stop turning you are much more likely gonna pull away quicker without it the only thing you could be missing out on without it is wen your conering or in really bad weather condition like water (aquaplaning) and frosty road surfaces tbh i never use mine coz ur not in complete control.

if the traction control lights only kick in at 6k could be because ur not losing grip till then or as you reacon could be duff!
