Driving home tonite and my traction control light has come on and won't go out???? Any clues to the problem???

Fault in the TCS system

OR

You've pressed the button by the gearlever. However that should reset itself on stop and restart.

Hi Stylesy24 me and the mrs had same problem with our leon cupra 03 it turned out to be down to brake pads and discs not had a problem in over 13months since changing brakes wasnt sure if it was to do with sensor on pads triggering it to come on and stay on. The first garage i took car to said maf sensor or abs fault i tryed swopping maf senson but didnt make a diffrence so he said its gonna be fault on your abs system and thats what was giving me the problem. Thankfully i had no money at time so couldnt get get abs system sorted any way a few weeks later and m8 turned up he said he once had same problem on his old leon and he said it turned out to be down to brake sensor on pads but he wasnt gonna say for sure he just said it might be pads and discs. anyway to cut a long story short we changed pads and discs on front of car as these was looking really warn out. luckily once we changed the pads and discs the traction control light went out and not had a single problem since lucky m8 suggested them as when we took old ones off it was just metal on metal and discs was all cracking on the edges. i havent a clue how it passed its mot on them brakes as it was only done month before they was that bad im surprised they even stopped the car anyway hope info helps m8.

steffen did your brake sensor light not come on then?

Hi thershow no brake sensor light just traction stuck on if u turned car on and off it would sometimes reset but not all the time. but second id drive car round a corner fast it wud trigger traction to kick in and it would stay on again. when m8 tested it on diagonstics it didnt even show any errors. at time i fought it was loose wire on switch cus it did it when going round corners. anyway glad m8 sorted it now at least he saved me wasteing more money. not had one problem with traction since pads and discs been fiited and i use button a lot now and all good.

happened to me randomly. i just disconnected the battery for half an hour then reconnected it - light disappeared and everything was fine after that

maf or asb sensor.

while i respect your posts Steffen it makes no sense for it to be worn pads. The leon has a seperate warning on the dash for brake pads.
It may have been a dirty sensor affected during the change of disks?
Although for no fault to come up when you scanned it is weird!

Unless they only scanned the engine module, rather than the ABS unit?

Quite common for garages to only do that

hi, ive being and had my bushes changed today and 2 hrs later realised my traction light wont go out when push the button! any ideas please? much appriciated...

they've probably knocked or disconnected a sensor. You'll have to have a proper look I reckon and see if the wiring/plugs are all connected as they should be.

thanks. looks like its a trip back too the off street garage. also still getting some knocking from front end which is becoming a pain. thats the ball joints aswell as the bushes today and still not resolved the problem
