Traction control

sorry but heres a newbie question again,

on the cupras is the TC always on unless you hit the button near the handbrake which turns it off or is it the otherway round in that it is off until you hit the button to turn it on. Im only asking as in the wet or damp the wheels still seem to spin like mad and cant get any traction. Should the TC limit the wheelspin by reducing power, if so I dont think it works very well.

It's always on until you push the button. Worst is when wheel spining in 2nd at 40 and the car just limits the revs and you just don't go anywhere then..... theres an almight shove of power as the wheels have stopped spinning.

But there are more factors involved with wheel spin, e.g.. Type of road, tyre wear, weather conditions and probably others....

Yep its always on, i struggled to get traction in 3rd and 4th at the weekend, as the roads were so so wet.just use the accelerator lightly in the wet, especially around islands, as you will understeer like a twat, mine does it loads if i give it to much on the loud pedal. Also if your feeling brave, turn it off in the wet, you will soon see the difference it does do ;)

Yeah, 229 lb/ft torque and wet roads don't make a good combination!! :p:

Got caught out the other day with it - dabbed the throttle whilst driving through a car park and lit up both front wheels

try 330 lb/ft. Mine was stupid in the wet. However i always drove round withit off, cos it was so much fun. although going througha set of Pirellis in 7000 miles gets quite pricey!!!!

yep, 12000 miles with no problems. but it does depend on how you drive, use the gears and the clutch will take it, labour it in too high ratios and it won't
