OK I have some info for those that are interested.
I took the car out for a good ragging with VC running and took the soot level from 40.8% up. The level reached exactly 45% and then started to reduce very quickly, I guess a regen kicked in. I can honestly say that there was no lumpy or fast idol, no funny clattering noises, no smoke, no lack of power and no funny smells, I honestly would not have known it was in regen. Anyway I continued to drive on the motorway at a steady 60 on the cruise and the level dropped very quick to 20%. I came off at the next junction and turned round and headed back home on normal a roads whilst the level dropped to 2% then it started slowly going up again. When I got home it was on 4% and I guess that it only took about 2 miles for it to go up from 2% to 4%
I did notice that whilst in regen the exhaust temps shot up and at times hit 800 degrees as soon as it hit 45%. The temps calmed down again after was reached 2%. I found that whilst in regen it did not matter how I drove the level always came down unless I was stationary. I also now know that during normal driving, even at 60 on the cruise the soot level still climes but only slowly so I expect to check in the next few days and be on maybe 20% I guess.
Hope this helps
So mine went from 14% to 40% in 3 weeks. and about 150 miles of silly short trips of 2-3 miles each. Next is a forced regen when I feel brave.
IMO the OP of this thread is a hero and needs a beer
