did you remove yours pov? hows the beast?
Just a quick tip, do not remove it!
I have removed mine not too long ago and it caused quite a grief on my car, water was going through the gaps and basically water logged cylinder 4. I got lucky and found out on time as my car started to misfire when I got home and immediately checked with VAGCOM and yea…coil pack removed, full of water (not good)
This has never happened to me, and only happened since I removed the felt. I did wash the car the day after and it was raining the day after that (it wasn’t long until the car started to misfire because of it)
HOWEVER this because I don’t have a engine cover on my car as its been removed for my forge CAI
All is running well with the felt back on.
The reason I wanted to remove it was: waste of space? Could lose the extra weigh etc but yea I keep it on my car now.

Mine is going in next week to get it replaced for the second time. I also gave them the part numbers for the new clips. They said they would change it no problem as its still under warranty.
what is the part number? going to get mine done before the warrenty ends. cheers
Wifes car
Iwas washing the car today and found the saggy under bonnet felt ,took off and found mushrooms growing inside the felt.
Cars a 58 plate less than 10k miles.
So I took a trip to ARNOLD at Seafield in Edinburgh ,the car is booked in for next Friday and I will mention the rubber clips to them to see what responce I get .
KEEP U ALL POSTED![]()
Had mine exchanged there few months back without any problem. Have you had any other work done there by the way? I find girls working there at the reception quite irritating and not very helpful.... might be just my experience though...
Solution? Remove it! The RS doesnt even come with it.
just thought I would post my experience, I bought these revised clips from Dave at SERE, and took about 20 mins to fit them (including a cuppa)
basically they are the same clips with a little rubber gasket around them. this seems to have worked, the water no longer seeps through into the felt, it does however still collect in the black bit at the top of the bonnet, pouring out when you uplift it.
for all it costs Id say its worth doing, to keep the mould down under the bonnet lol
hope that helps
Any pointers on removing the black trim Daz?
I removed all the Torx screws, then when I pulled at the trim it felt like something was going to break. I was wanting to replace these little clips to the upgraded ones along with a new washer jet.
