Its the clips the black are holding it back. You can access some of them for underneath to help them through the holes. Some might break........but you have new ones to put on. Its also hooked on at both ends.

I found the old clips hard to remove, so pretty much twisted and snapped then off with pliers from underneath the bonnet...as mentioned, they're being replaced anyway!

Cheers for the help, I'll give them another go.

So it's just a case of Torx screws out an pull like hell to get it off lol?

DandB, I am a little confuzzled at the part where you say you had to snap them off with pliers from "underneath" the bonnet?, with the bonnet open I can't see any off these clips? Or is it something more apparent when the black trim is off?

Another query, do you need to do anything with the washer jet pipes on the drivers side to be able to remove the trim?

Yes, I know lots of questions, but I always break something and then wish I'd never bothered lol.

Once the 10 torx screws have been removed the only thing holding the panel on are the clips that you will be replacing. You can try brute force and pull the panel but the clips holding it down (Which you can see from underneath the bonnet, visibly located by the moon shaped indentation, about 7 of them are visible... the bottom of the clips are about a cm long) are the type that butterfly out once pushed through from above, making them near impossible to remove without breaking them, in my experience anyway.

Once all clips are off you can just rest the panel on your windscreen with the washer system still attached.

Make sure when replacing the new clips that you slot them into the panel (Not straight into the bonnet) and pop them through the bonnet in the very last instance, after tightening all torx screws first.

PM me if this doesn't sound clear...happy to help! [B)]

No problem!

One thing though...i still seem to be getting some water in engine bay at times :thumbd:

So my advice would be to try and seal any other holes/openings that you find under the panel!

Good luck :)

Last week I decided to have a look a sorting this problem and today after I washed my car it was the first time that lining stayed dry and no water ran out from behind so it seems no more soggy/mouldy lining :D.

Heres what I did.

1 Removed the lining to dry it out and clean off the mould.

2 Removed the trim at back of the bonnet where the water gets in from. What I did notice the clips already have the rubber seal, but I do have a facelift leon.

3 Cleaned up the area that was under the trim.

4 Blocked off the small centre drain hole and the 2 larger ones towards the outer edge with duck tape.

5. Then about 2mm down from the front top edge of the resess where the trim goes stuck a length of foam gasket seal all the way across.

6. Replaced trim and lining with original fittings and thats it.
