Hi all,

quicky, when i was driving to a friends house yesterday and also on the way back I noticed the TSC light on the dash randomly came on and stayed on.

when i arrived I turned the engine/keys out/and on again and the light didnt come back on again.

the temps during the journey were between -5 and -11 though so could that be any relevence? does the light come on to tell you that the roads are likely to be icy? as i thought the same light came on to say there are random issues with the engine.
i've ran a scan of the diags with Torque (not got a laptop to run VAG at the moment as i've just had to hand me company laptop back) and it doesnt show anything ... i've no idea how likely it is that torque shows anything even if there were any faults.

reallly? nothing to do with the hideously minus temps? or could that effect the MAF?

i bought some stuff to clean the maf the other week but i never got around to it since I dont have any security torx screwdriver bits :(

i agree most likely the maf, the car will run off set data and will run 90% the same, however will likely be less fuel efficient and its not something you want to do long term.

The cold temperatures could be an indirect contributor as it could have led to vibrations being transmitted to the mef housing increasing.

However it would be good to get qet a proper scan done to confirm as new mafs are £90 or so from dealer.

i'm pretty sure the ABS was working ok though as I tested accelerating on ice.
Although when I was on the normal A-road and accel hard it did seem to slip without pulling away or juddering as you'd expect if ABS was kicking in.

i'll see if i can get a laptop to check. wish there was a decent app for android which checks everything

what fault codes should i expect if its a faulty maf?

As i understand it, if the maf has gone then it can affect traction control, NOT ABS.
If you have an abs fault then the abs light will come on!

What you describe pulling away if a traction control fault, not ABS. which again points to the maf.

were you wheel spinning excessively before hand? That can cause the tcs/esp light to stay lit if it thinks the wheels are out of sync with eachother.

that could (hopefully) be it. went for a drive this evening for a few miles (admitidly not that many) and it didnt come on, and i didnt really slam it.

Although I did slam it at one point and it does feel like the wheels are spinning excessively since i've had it remapped. is this normal? is there owt i can do to stop them (accelerate gentler... i know but it seems to be a case of that need to have the pedal down quite far before the turbo kicks in)

the traction light does flicker when its trying to sort out the wheels. .

Try being more progressive with the pedal and check the tyres are in good nick, youll still get the turbo at a cetain rev range even if you dont floor it.
Not ideal time of the year unless your running winter tyres.
