Is the petrol exeo the older tfsi lump as found I the golf gti (197) or is it the newer tsi (211) engine. All the adverts I've seen quote it as the tsi but with the lower output. I'm tempted to swap from my cupra but petrol choice is very limited

At least here in Finland the engine changed from TFSI ~200hp to TSI ~211hp at 2010.
I think late 2010 models were 211hp ones already. And this is for models with manual gearbox.
With multitronic it is always 200hp engine.

So they don't sell Exeos with 1.8 TSI's at UK? We have 2 versions of those (120hp & 160hp).

Steve.

I have a 200bhp ST. Early vehicles built to April/May 2010 were 197 bhp. After that date they were 211bhp. Easy way to tell the difference apart from the engine number is the CO figure on the reg document. The 197 shows 184 g/kms, the 211 is 162g/kms. The badges on my car say TSI which I believe the later cars also have so you cannot tell that way.

According to the 'experts' the 197 is the stronger engine.

Have driven a saloon with the 211 and struggled to tell the differnce, I think my 200 felt easier/more flexible to drive at the expense of the co2 output.

Thanks, at the minute there are only 3 petrol Exeo's in the uk ...... I do like the newer TSi engine but don't really mind the 197 version.

I just need to weigh up if i want to swap the Cupra for an Exeo, i still like the cupra but the suspension is getting tiresome, however if I got an Exeo I'd still lower it .....

Thread revival - but any experiences in additions to TonyL's that people can feed back having driven both cars? I'm really inbetween a Petrol and some kind of mapped 170, but trying to figure out if there is much real world difference between the TSI and TFSI (aside from road tax and mpg, albeit some of the real world mpg sites seem to suggest the difference is absolutely marginal on this front). Does the additional 40Nm torque really help the drive?
