sorry if this in the wrong section.

anyone heard of TSR Performance, Bridgwater, Somerset?

heard they went into receivership in the summer, but someone has recently told me they are back up and running and apparently was mentioned in one of the VW magazines not long ago.

is this true are they back up? would you recommend them?

Probably more a tuning question than a MK1 leon question?

their rep went downhill when the founder sold up and moved to france.
if they are up and running i would think twice.find out who is running the show,as the last lot cut a fair amount of corners on customers cars and made a few enemies on CGTI forum.
good tuners are getting thin on the ground.

alot of hard work and time required then

the goodwill of the company was almost priceless from what i have read with the original Tim/Tom

wander what the history of mechanics they have there now?

could do with a cheap (but reliable and good) cambelt change on the 225 engine. parts is quite cheap, it's the labour which costs and is like a 3 hour job i think.

unless someone has something very positive to say, think i may stay clear of it

Back from the dead
same thing happened to AmD when the founder members sold out.

Once they make these businesses into cash cows rather than tuning specialists they lose their unique selling point. AmD has become a conveyer belt.

I had a TSR 1900cc Donington engine which I/some mates fitted into my Jetta GTi 8v Mk2 whilst I was at university. Engine was fine, and that was back in the day when Tim Stiles was running it (1996).

Thing is, once you lose the passion and experience of the key figures who set up the business, what are you left with? Big business that is only interested in plug and play solutions - then take your money and kick you out the door. Maybe a bit harsh, but its how it feels.

One tuner I will use in the future is Dialynx. Still seems to have the old skool feel to it, and although he's busy you can see by their work that they are experts at what they do.

What about performance driven in taunton?

I emailed performance driven, but never had an answer. TSR is now up and running but have heard nothing in terms of good or bad news.

The website has been updated and the shop front looks better, that all I can say at this moment in time.
