I have a PSI Motorsport box on my PD130, and it gives a huge increase in performance.
It dyno'd at 175 BHP, up from 130 claimed...
It's a bit smokey if you run it on the higher settings, and the MFA MPG readings are hopeless...but it's a good buy. I'm happy.
Had it on for nearly 3 years and it's never missed a beat.
I have it connected to a two pin waterproof connector - same type as the battery conditioner uses (coincidentally!) so I can fit/remove it in 5 mins for servicing etc.

My DTUK tuning box plugs into the 5 pin PD connector on the side of the engine and has a positive and negative connection to the battery so would that chuck more fuel in without the ECU knowing about it as my MPG displayed average has dropped, not gone up since using the tuning box?

Hi, Have had one of the Tdi tuning boxes for a year now.Took a few weeks to set up properly. Certainly improves bottom end torque, and the biggest bonus for me,around 5Mpg more.Doing 500 miles a week miine has certainly paid for itself:D

Hi I got one of these tdi tuning boxes but my car keeps shuddering after starting untill the engine is warm. which way do you turn the screw on the box to stop this shudder / uneven idling?

Cheers,
Rob

I have just got a tuning box from tdi-tuning for my 2.0 pd 140. Its a simple box, nothing fancy, simply plugs into the 5 pin plug on the side of the engine - no power from the battery.

Power and torque are definately up whch is great and so is mpg according to the computer but i am dubious of this until i check it manually.

Can somebody with good knowlege explain to me why I am now seeing no smoke in the mirror when i give the car a boot full? where as in standard form before the box was fitted, i would get quite a lot. If these boxes make the car pump in more fuel, surely i should be seeing more smoke?

tuning boxes just trick the ecu to throw more fuel in, or just boost the total fuel pressure, which is great if u wantt to break things, get a remap done everytime, youll only waste your money on a box then more money fixing the things it breaks! i do maps at £250 all in with lifetime garantee

Ha, i noticed a few threads from this guy which all funnily enough included the same info in red (as above). Nice to see he's been banned:lol:

A "lifetime guarantee" on a remap is surely meaningless anyway? -
The map is just computer software or bunch of altered settings stored to the ECU right? So unless it is overwritten it isn't going to go wrong............ what most people would benefit from is a guarantee that the map wont cause damage to the engine/gearbox/clutch etc, which of course no aftermarket remapper will provide.

Tried tuning box in the early days of pd ownership.
Did give more power, but with more smoke and an increase in fuel consumption.
The power delivery was quite abrupt also.
Now I am sure that if you fit one and it's ok for you, that's fine.
Personally I dumped it for a proper remap and there was quite a difference in power delivery - much smoother and more progressive.
Virtually no smoke & a decrease in fuel consuption.
I won't say who did it for fear of being called biased, but Will is in Wolverhampton!

ive got one of these for my pd130 it was great! felt like it picked up a lot quicker and would give higher power out but also seemed like it put loads of black fuel out the back too?? anyone had similar experience??

I have just got mine today so far it seems ok no smoke or anything I'll leave it in max settings for the 222bhp and go for a long drive and see how much mpg I get and then change it to the settings it came with and see of I get better mpg or worse lol

Hi FlameRevenge, how are you getting on with your tuning box? What engine you running it on?

Hi it's going ok at the moment, I have a section booked for the rolling road will let you know of the true power output once I get it on the rolling road to measure it's true power :D, am running it on a 170bhp common rail engine
