Help needed. Have got a 2005 FR 180 bhp over the last couple of months have had problems with poor fuel consumption and lack of power been to main Seat dealer 3 times and they stated car shows no fault codes so nothing they can do:wtf:.
Once the turbo starts to spool you can hear a whistleing noise like air venting somewhere and this is constant the whole time the turbo is spinning and it is very slow revving past 4 thousand RPM. I have been through and tightened and checked all hoses and cant find any that are split or lose.
Went into different garage yesterday and they advised the uprated forger 007p diverter valve (which i only installed after problems started) was causeing all sorts of problems. After replacing with stock part runs slightly better but garage advises that somethign is still holding back boost but not sure what and it now has a noticable miss fire once get to 5 thousand rpms.
Any help or advise would be much appreciated and problem really starting to annoy me.

No haven't got boost guage. It was at Vag specialist yesterday they spent 6 hours on it doing live data runs but not 100% sure whats causeing it. They said the wastegate had been altered at some stage and they reset that back to factory settings. The car has only done 21k so turbo should be ok.
They did get it running slightly better in that the fuel consumption has improved but when i first got the car in 1st and 2nd gear when you put foot down and turbo started spinning you got pushed back into seat slightly now its hard to feel when turbo kicks in and got constant whistleing/hissing noise when turbo is spinning.

Was at independant garage yesterday who did live data runs but could not work it out, just said the wastegate had been adjusted and they put back to factory and was slightly better but not drastically. The other thing i forgot to mention is that last friday a warning light on dashboard came on that relates to check engine/ excess emmissions but the garage put that down to wastegate.

No fault codes registering, they just said the forge dv was causeing all sorts of problems and once they installed stock dv it registered no faults so there stumped without spending hours assessing everything.
But cant understand why i have had the problem for the last couple of months the excess emissions light only came on last friday??
I live in Surrey near Guildford.

Did you use AmD? If not give them a try.

I know the bloke who owns the garage, he used to me master mechanic for BMW now owns german specialist garage so know he not trying to con me.

sounds like MAF is one of the problems common things are Poor mpg ,struggling to rev over 4k

would a faulty MAF not bring up fault code? Read about disconnecting MAF then take for drive and see if that helps but surely that would bring up fault code that i cant clear!

agreed, log the maf readings on a run in 3rd or 4th.
It's suprising how such a little thing can cause so many problems.
Remember the ecu can open the diverter valve whenever it wants according to all sorts of parameters so this could be the whistling you hear not the actual valve being faulty.
Very rare a forge diverter will give you problems.
