Quick bump as I may be taking it to the garage later; do I clean the CAT myself or just get the whole thing stripped and cleaned?

Cheers

Cheers sssstew, took it to the garage with regards to getting the turbo cleaned out and he recommended me some super strong Forté diesel cleaner.

He said to wait until I had around quarter of a tank of diesel left and then whack the whole lot in, and it should do the job, if not I'll take it back and ask them to strip/clean the turbo.

Cheers again, really appreciate your input.

Still doing it after I ran that diesel cleaner through it :(

Any more suggestions please? It's really rare it does it, and now only seems to happen if I really hammer the car which I very seldom do - but would still like to get it sorted.

Is there anything else I could try and do myself before taking it to a garage? I've already spent over a few hundred quid on the car so don't really want to spend any more just yet if I can help it.

Cheers!

Mate i hate to say this but it sounds like the same problem as i had, and my turbo was clogged i had to get a new turbo but luckily for me it was all under warrenty. I have since heard tho that u can take the vains out and have them ultrasond cleand. i mean i don't know how mechanically minded you are and if you could strip the turbo your selfe.

Cheers for the info dude, in all honesty I wouldn't even know where the turbo is :)P) let alone how to strip, clean and re-assemble it!

Think I'll just have to leave it as it is then :(

Does this effect Cupra's too? My parents are thinking of getting one since they like my car so much, but I've had so much trouble with mine so far I think they're a bit put off; the turbo problems being their main concern.

Looks good; many thanks matt!

I'll ring around a few mechanics later and see if I buy the kit, whether they'll be able to apply it or not. My car doesn't go into limp mode that much now, but it's still there and it's still very annoying :(

The turbo on mine dies on me if I push it too much when its cold. When its up to temp it never does it.

Have you tried taking it easy until your temp gauge is half way then try tooling it to see if it still conks out?

I was told that turbo's on newer cars tend to get cut off by the electronics in the car if they are being over used or something to prevent them from braking? I don’t know if that’s true or not but does make sense I suppose

Well for starters you shouldnt be pushing the turbo when its cold.. Also the temp guage is for coolant not oil. If you try pushing your turbo when cold you will ruin it fairly quickly. Could be a problem with the connector on the maf. Or a number of things, but pushing the car when cold is probably the stupidest thing you could do because the oil isnt warmed up and you will just grind the turbo.
