Turbo split in half

Hi once again following up from a recent post I put up where I mentioned a loud gassy noise whilst I was driving, got under my leon FR 150 tdi and found that the turbo has split from the shaft/blade (not to technical about cars, if that's what it's called), in other word where the air intake pipe connects to the turbo, I can move that pipe freely.

What would have caused this and has any one else suffered from this problem, also any one selling a turbo around the bham area, thank you in advance.

it sounds like the pipe has just come off rather than broken turbo but your first post is a bit un clear.
if it is the pipe then reconnect it and fit a new jubilee clip.

Thank you for replying its not the pipe that is loose, where the pipe connects to the turbo I can actually move the pipe and turbo away from the rest of the turbo, it's connected to the spindle, hope I make sense lol

So has the housing of the turbo actually cracked? The spindle, with turbine and compressor wheels attached, should be fixed in the centre housing of the turbo and no atached to either the inlet or outlet pipework of the compressor or turbine.

A photo might help. Sounds pretty unusual for the actual turbo to have cracked / broken up.
