Tyres.

My new Ibiza FR has Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres. I was under the impression
that they came with Pirellis. Are these tyres any good? They certainly seem better than the Yokohama Advans that I used to have on my Ignis Sport.

I have zero neros on my fr and tbh theyre good but noisey. If you dont mind the hum of the road then the zeros are a great tyre. As for the others you mentioned havent really been all that bothered by high performance tyres as I dont go all out in the wet where these tyres come into their own.

i've heard good things about khumos and Falkens other folks here can probably speak more from experience.

Toyos T1s seem to be the way everyone on here goes either that or good year F1's. Really good tyres, low road noice and amazing in the wet. I run toyos and can say they do wear a bit quicker than other tyres but are worth it for how good they are.

O and I have heard Pirellis cause a lot of road noice. Anyway a search will give u more info mate, it gets coverd nearly every week

Cheers. From what I can make out, the general reviews for the SP sport maxx are more favourable than those for the Pirelli Pzeros. Im happy with the Dunlops so far.

Dunlop SP2000 are only "the way to go" if the way you want to go is straight on into the ditch or tree at the side of the road, rather than actually going around the corner. I found them to be the worst wet-weather tyre I've ever had the misfortune to drive on. They gave me horrific understeer in the wet, until I got rid of them. Go carefully when it's wet!

I just replaced the tyres on my 130PD with Kumho KU31's. After 1000 miles in the wet and dry I'd say they are on a par with the P-Zero Neros they replaced. And at £70 each I can't complain.

I think making the switch from premium tyres to mid-range is a bit like swapping form petrol to diesel - once you've done it you'll wonder why you didn't sooner

My car came with P-zero Neros and I have to say that they're rather pants. They don't seem to grip very well at all in both the wet and dry so come replacement time I'll be looking elsewhere.

Well, after the deluge of rain in the last couple of days, the Dunlops seem alright in the wet.........although i am still running the car in!
Believe me, nothing could be worse in the wet than Yokohama Advans. They used to grip like buggery when ground was flat and bone dry. However, throw an ounce of moisture in the mix and you may as well have slicks on! Seriously.

Which have you got - T1R or T1S ?

I use the Toyo T1R, which I believe has much better wear rates than the T1S, which was known to wear quickly.
