Has anybody had any experience of these guys? I've found a reconditioned unit that comes from a car that's been written off but the seller claims the turbo was bought as a reconditioned unit from them but not an original VW part...

Hmmmm, must I'm a bit unsure, the website looks the real deal but... How do you confirm something like that :-\

Think of it this way. Bb turbos k04 £ 700-800.
Cheap eBay ( made in Taiwan ) £250

Price says it all. Even if its an expensive one , it's not designed to fit your car properly . Not saying it won't work , but just got suspicions .

Purposely steered clear of cheap Chinese versions, universal turbos is some American company and their site looks all good...

Sorry mis understood what you were saying . Its a gen k04!!! Not a universal fit.
Same engine code then should be fine. Only thing ..... Can he prove its only done 600 miles? Who to say it hadn't done 16000 miles? Your only taking his word for it. If he's got paper work then great !!
Hopefully it's all true . Think you need a break with the list of repairs you have .

Lol, thanks! I've asked for his reg then I can check out his story with universal, other than that, I've just won a turbo that needs reconditioning so gonna send it to beachbuggy (can be sold on after repair if this one checks out).
I've got a manifold on its way too, wehey :-D

Yeah but no luck, could pick them up for leon but not the R, I've been at it constantly now since Friday morning, tried everywhere, can't get any response from beachbuggy, not on Facebook or the company email... Figured he might be on holiday or something so sent a friend request which he's accepted. Just praying to god he can refurb this one I've just bought, eeeek! :-!

Funny you say that about bb turbos . I did the same 2-3 months ago. Never heard a bean back . Seems they don't want the work .
Shocked at 24/7 !! I
Always get 7-8 quotes off them . Used them to hunt for the Lcr kit. Had 13 quotes back , so they are out there. Maybe they aren't back from Xmas yet ? Worth another go bud. Like I've said .... I always use them .

Got quotes but only for the new bits I need like cambelt & water pump... Here's a question for ya... Why do I need to put new cambelt on if it was done about 4 yes ago (I cover less than 6k miles per year), is it necessary, or even recommended or is he just doing it because the engines out???

Once a can belt is taken off , I was told you shouldn't ever reuse it again .
Saying that ..... My old pug van had a cam belt change 9k before the bottom end went. As I was on a budget I told my bloke to re use it. Ran fine with it for another 4 years till I sold it .

Well if its recommended I'll just get it done, no point spending all that money for the engine to go pop when the belt goes, just wasn't sure...being a GIRL an all that, hehehe :p
