I turned on the ignition on my Tfsi 08 plate, and saw a symbol light up on the instrument panel, just below the rear quarter on the picture of the car on the dash. Everything seems to be working ok but I don't know if it is actually a warning light or a glitch on the panel. Any ideas anyone.

Could of been a bulb out warning, the Mk2 does have this functionality for the driver info screen to point out which bulb is either out or defective on the car. It usually points out where to look on the car graphic, but will also throw up some warning information too

If it's not there now then it's something intermittent possibly a dodgy bulb about to go or a bad connection. See how you go if it happens again pop it into the dealers for a diagnostic.

However another thing that comes to mind is if it was simply a glitch on the screen, it could be that the LCD was cold, and took a second to kick into life properly. I have seen it happen on LCD monitors when they get very cold. The liquid can essential freeze in the screen so it won't move right away, the electrical signals warm the LCD cells up and it takes a couple of seconds to move and the glitch is the delay you see.

I recently had a problem with my MFD LCD screen. a squigle appeared. Everyday it got larger. I have heard this happenning to someone wlse on here too.

would be good to se a picture.

Yeah this looks like a squiggle, and it is brighter than the rest of the display. I will have to take it in to the dealers to have a look.

yes, dodgy LCD. Needs a new instrument cluster. replaced under warranty.

The squiggle has grown, it now looks like a cracking piece of ice.
Took it in today, the service manager came out took one look at it and said it needed a new instrument cluster. they are replacing it on tuesday under warranty.:)

:) Dont forget to test your radio after you leave, as they need to re-enter a radio code after changing the instrument cluster.

Out of interest, where are you having it done?

Ok will do thanks, they said that I would not lose any of the mileage as they first copy it on to their computer then download it into the new cluster.

Having it done at W J king, Sidcup
