Just noticed a pool of fluid under my car after doing a short journey to the local chippy!

My coolent tank is completly empty and the water hoses are red hot, but my temperature light has not come on or exceeded 90?

I have found a leak from the part which makes a noise when you turn on the ignition or after turning off the car it continues to sound for a while.

Its directly beneath the air con hose but above the alternator, is cylindracal with a plug on it and two coolent hoses.

What does this part do and is there any temporary fix i can do? Is it a Seat part only and is it expensive!?!

Advise needed asap many thanks.

Its the coolant run on pump, it keeps the water circulating after switching the engine off, this helps cool the turbo down.

Check one of the fans hasnt rubbed through the hose, seen that a few times.

If its the pump itself I would get down to B+Q and get a suitable bit of copper pipe and bridge it out if you can, not ideal but will get you mobile.

so i can do away with the pump and disconnect the plug to it and just join the two ends? Will that throw up a fault? Should this not have logged a fault anyway?

I think the actual housing has a split in it thats where the water is coming from not a hose.
