In my LeonFR 2.0 TDI
im not sure but from what ive seen on the back of the factory stereo you'll need the Quadlock Connection, as Mini ISO is round i think, and there are only rectangular sockets on the unit, not sure tho, but if this does work i wouldnt mind getting one

just to update you , bought the kit and it works really well. bit fiddly on the instalation but i'm really pleased with end result. All you have to do is name the folders as CD01, CD02 etc. Thanks Ady

Sounds very interesting, a couple of questions if you don't mind.

1. Where is the USB connection after installation ? (i.e glove box)
2. Is it powered ? (i.e. can you use a usb hard disk without another power source being needed)
3. How difficult is the installation ?
4. Which connects2 did you buy, how much and from where ?

Cheers.

1. glovebox yes you are correct. took some time to do this though.
2. Well it powers the 4 gb pen drive i'm using. don't know about hard drive , not tried.
3. Just a bit fiddly when the radio is out as you have to take away the exsisting blue connector for my aux out. and the blue quad connector. And there is not much original cable to work with.
4 Cost me £74 delivered from incarexpress.co.uk. the link for the device as follows:
http://www.connects2.com/c2search.aspx?catID=52&manID=235&modID=780
it is this model : CTAVGUSB009.

hope this helps.

Cheers Ady

Now I know this was discussed some time ago, but I've only just got round to thinking about buying one for myself !

Adyfr fitted this to an FR headunit, but is that a different headunit to the one in my Ref Sport ?? My headunit isn't the MP3 one, so would this work ? I'm guessing that its MP3's that you put on the USB stick ?

Any help here would be great guys, cos I've had enough of having to swap CD's all the bl**dy time !

I would be interested in the answer here too boolandy... I have an 06 2.0 TDI Sport with no MP3 headunit (why the original buyer didnt spec one is beyond me - it was only a £25 option FFS)

Also, can you still use the steering wheel buttons to scroll through the folders? Does the MP3 track titles etc show up on the head unit and does the kit come with a USB stick - if it does what size is it?

I first though that adding a USB HDD would be a good idea but I dont know if it would cope with the bumping and vibrating etc... I have a spare so might try it if i get one of these kits... 500GB of music storage anyone :)

Cheers

That looks good Gerry !!
Now all we need is someone to tell us if this USB option will work on our non MP3 stereos !!

I know! I have the armrest so am thinking of incorporating a USB and aux socket neatly in there somehow... I will probably get the box to try it and I 'reckon' it should fit as the head unit should have the same CD changer connection regardless of the MP3 option.

So are you going for it then Gerry ? I think you should, then I'll know if it works or not !
I know what you mean about it having the CD changer connection, I'm just worried that I can only put MP3's on the usb stick and that the stereo won't be able to read them....
