ADYFR - some questions...

Ady,

Received my CTAVUSB009 this evening from Car Audio & Security.

  1. Did you receive an SD card holder, 3.5mm male to male jack lead extension and USB extension lead (as per their web page photo) as I did not get any of them...
  2. I assume the Connects2 can be fitted without disconnecting the battery?
  3. The 'quadlock' connector looks a bit smaller than the original AUX one to me. Did you remount the Connects2 block back into the original harness 'quick release' holder? (OK - while waiting for a reply, internet research shows that the original block is seated in a carrier, hence why the Connects2 one looks small )
  4. Am I correct in assuming that the original AUX block is fitted onto the Connects2 block that has the pins, that is the adapter sits between original block and radio (the instructions are pants).

Thanks in advance.

Can you clarify - which partno.

just to update you , bought the kit and it works really well. bit fiddly on the instalation but i'm really pleased with end result. All you have to do is name the folders as CD01, CD02 etc. Thanks Ady

CTAVGUSB009 - This is the one...........
Also to answer the above question...........
I removed the original quick release block to allow me to insert the usb block. A bit fiddly as i said earlier, but it works and it is still working thanks very much.
And yes you should get leads and sd card reader to attach to the cable.

Thanks Ady. Sorry for the delay..............

Sorry for dragging up an old thread but I'm looking at buying a 2.0 sport and wondering if there's a definite answer to whether a non-mp3 radio can read memory-stick mp3s?

cheers

Is it the 2.0 TDI you are looking at? If so then I have one and so far think its an amazing car!

To answer your question, no it doesnt seem like there is a definitive answer as to whether the non MP3 head unit can read the memory stick mp3s, BUT I think it will as the connects box should decode them and provide them to the autochanger interface in an ordinary audio format...

If you go for it before me then please let us know how you get on!

Exactly as I understand it, Gerry.

No specific MP3 information is transmitted to the head unit (ID Tags etc), the USB interface (as you've said) merely outputs an audio signal to the head unit's CDC audio input connection.

yes it's the 2.0TDi sport that we've just put a deposit on. V excited.
06 plate in red with only 9k miles :)

I'm reassured by the fact that the head unit does not directly have to interface with the memory stick, with the connects box decoding them it should work fine

Likewise, Gerry, if you get around to fitting it soon could you let me know how it goes
