Useful Gauges

Right then, I hope that this ain't a "repost" and that I'll get told to search, but it is a newbie-ish question...

What gauges would you suggest to have and are useful?

I currently have Boost and Oil Temp (need new sendor for oil temp still).

Was thinking of getting the CupraR center pod thing. One on eBay comes with Oil Temp and Volt meter. Personally, never seen the point of a Volt Meter.

Now I was thinking to put there would be:
Oil Pressure
Air/Fuel Ratio

What would others suggets?
Exhaust Temp?

BTW: I know it's possible to get 3 in the CupraR pod - M87NER has ;)

So, please share. Post what you think is useful and why

Cheers,

Mat

I would say it depends on what set up you got like. As can be different things you need to monitor. I would say air fuel would be a good one same with exhuast temp.

Im after another gauge myself and cant decide what to get so be interesting to see what peoples views are. Just got boost gauge at the moment in the cupra R holder.

yeah, i read other day someone got a narrow band one, and PhilW said you would need wide band. Saw a AFR on eBay - Was narrow band lol (what's the difference). I think Rollys or M87NERs has a digitlal one - think it was Rolly actually at Cadwell

Ask M87NER for pics. Just drill a hole in the middle above the two that are already there ;)

So far i got, boost and oil pressure in the pillar, oil temp and soon to be air/fuel gauge in a cupra r holder.

My boost controller in the coin tray, which is like a second boost gauge.

And a scan gauge in the cigarette light, which normall shows, air intake temp, coolant temp, load and voltage.

Phil: Didn't you mount one on the steering column or was that someone else? It looked sweet.

Yeah i did. In the photos it looked pretty good, but in reality it looked a mess. lol.

You really need to fibreglass it in place or creating a whole new cover to be able to fit it properly.

I liked the idea tho.

Im going egt & boost - in pillar then oil temp/afr and if i can find space without too much clutter possibly water temp for chargecooler, aquamist monitor and that's really about it

Are oil press & fuel press any use really? Also how do you go about getting a wideband lambda?

On a k03 turbo I would go for boost, oil temp and oil pressure. Wideband AFR and EGT is a waste of money imo unless you have BT or are like Phil and want to fine tune your set up and are worried about what vag com is telling you. There is no real need to know the figures. Considering a decent wideband AFR is going to cost you at least £200 its money better spent elsewhere.

Centre gauge pod's are annoying, means there is no space to put anything!

I have a boost gauge but i don't know what other one i am going to put in my Cupra R gauge.

I thought voltmeter as i have sub and amp etc. Might be useful. But think i will go oil temp.

I sit my phone on the right hand side under the steering wheel There is a rubber mat so it doesn't move.

Thats what I have to do! Oil temp is handy so you know when its warm enough to boot it :D

Hey again peeps.

Quick question, I have an Oil Temp Gauge, but it needs the sendor connecting up. Now just been reading this thread (http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=72432), and I was thinking of just connecting it next to the dipstick as shown in the pictures. I'm aware you can use the sump if you wish to connect also.

Anyway, whilst reading through I noticed this comment from PhilW (http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showpost.php?p=1233925&postcount=40). Would it matter where either the oil pressure or oil temp is "plugged in". Would the readings be slightly different depending which hole you plugged it in to?

I guess there may be the slightest of difference (eg, 1 or 2 degrees).

Cheers,

Mat
