Vag-com cable

Bought one of these Off Ebay

And ive installed it correctly but i cant install the USB driver. Anyone got any ideas? Ive tried 2 laptops, one with windows 2000, one with xp and a desktop with xp and no luck with all

i bought one of ebay, even with the drivers on two or three different machines with different operating systems on them and it still wouldnt work.

i eneded up resorting to a serial one, the one off ebay was USB, i know this doesnt help you much but i have read a few reports of people not being able to get the usb one working.

I am sure someone who has got one working can give you some pointers

are you using the correct version of vag com as there a like 4 different versions, usb ver, serial ver, can bus ver , and so on ??

just a thought might be worth looking at vag-com wesite and see if you got the correct ver

I think ive got the same problem, its with the actual driver software for the cable rather than VAG COM and its been a bit of a puzzle to work out.

i have just got one of these and have the same problem the vag-com driver wasn't correct so i downloaded one from www.autodiagnostics.com which installed ok but when i go into vagcom and run a test it moans about the driver

i bought mine off of ebay, the driver didnt work so i moaned to the bloke i bought it off, he sent me new drivers and i got it workin. I didnt choose to test the USB as for some reason it recognises it as a COM port which is wrong.

Screw it, it works. If anyone wants to try my new driver let me know and ill send it you

FWIW, this is correct. 3rd party interfaces like yours are not real USB interfaces, they use an emulated serial (COM) port.

I had the sam problem.
I then found a thread on here somewhere with a link to http://www.autonostics.com/pages.php?pageid=3 from which I downloaded the drivers for my laptop OS and all works a treat.
