Guys,

Have got a copy of VAG-COM running on a very old IBM Thinkpad laptop with Windows95. Is anyone on here using an OS this old?

Looked on the Ross-Tech website and they say that VAG-COM will run on Win95 with 32MB RAM, which is the spec of this laptop. But its not working as such (maybe i need to attach the cable then to the car for it to work - who knows???)

Just wondering if anyone else has had the same situation?

VAG-COM Versions 311 and 409 both work fine on Win95 if you are are using a serial cable. If you are trying to use a USB interface, I doubt it will work.

What kind of interface do you have and what version are you trying to get running?

im running vag com on 95 on an ibm thinkpad with serial port cable was a bit of a pain getting the cable to work with it though but got there in the end andworks fine for logging and that

Well i only got the software the other week, cable is in the post somewhere.

Its version 311 and i've ordered a serial interface cable as i don't have a USB port on the laptop.

Obviously i've chosen the right type thank god, if i'd had a USB port i would've bought a USB cable :(

ive got version 311 as well does the job as well shouldnt have any problems i dont think

Well i'll wait for the cable and see if it works after that. the laptop i'm using is so old, its nearly and inch and half thick when closed :D

I'm sure theres a hamster inside running on a little wheel generating power.

Cheers for the help guys... ;)

Some points:

We still support Windows 95 even in the latest version 607.3; however you *must* use the Serial version (since Windows 95 itself doesn't support USB).

Uninstalling a serial version of VAG-COM is trivial. Delete the folder that you installed it in. Delete the shortcuts on your desktop and in the Start Menu. Takes 30 seconds, no more.
