HI went in to see about ordering Ibiza FR or a Cupra today at my local dealer in Norwich, as I have only had my car 7 mounts wanted to know how much I would get in part exchange. Any way after we had a talk, I said I would think about it and may be order one in the new year, he then reminded me that the VAT goes back to 17.5% from 15% on the 31 Dec 2009 (price now £15999 after the 31 Dec £16399) another £400.00.
So if you are thinking of ordering a new car do it before 31 Dec 2009, as no deals on the FR or Cupra will be given as such a high demand

i would suggesting ordering it way before as other wise due to anti forstalling legislation they will charge u 2.5% on top at a later date anyway, i know this sadly as i work for vat office

This is why everyone in the chain for our house move wants to get done before xmas. The stamp duty threshold is going up to 175k at the same time too.

Hi,
(Newbie,) Ordered an Ibiza Sport 1.6 CR TDI in Candy white last week. Dealer quoted 12 weeks delivery. I have a 2nd car that qualifies for the scrappage deal, I was concerned I may miss out due to the length of time to delivery, also the increase in VAT. Dealer took £300 deposit and assured me that Seat would honour the price if ordered before 31st October 2009. Just looking through previous threads on delivery times, particulary the 1.6 tdi 12 weeks is a bit ambitious. I can't wait for the car it will be my 1st Seat, ordered climate, sports design pack, and tom tom, it ticked all my boxes unlike, fiesta,i20,clio,jazz,yaris,corsa,206, etc.

I can believe that they won't give a discount, however they should give you a cracking price on yours in part exchange. So the cost to change will be the same as getting a discount in the first place if you catch my drift. Decent recent used SEATs are much in demand so they should pay you a handsome price. They'll certainly be charging a premium for your car when it goes on their forecourt.

Hi and welcome. But it sounds like you've been lurking for a while. :)

Anything ordered from Seat before the end of November Seat will honor the current VAT, anything ordered after that will be subject to the new VAT change.

i guess seat are just going to account for the 2.5% out of there own pocket then good on them :)

I know it's not really relevant, but I bet the fuel tax will not change as they raised it last year to compinsate. This will mean Fuel will go up by 3p a litre. [:@]

Is there not a Pre-budget speech about now, 6 months before the main one and last year this VAT cut was announced?
