My drivers side A-pillar trim rattles when its very cold, but as soon as the car warms up it disappears. When I first picked it up, there was the odd creak from the passengers side somewhere, but that seems to have gone away.

Mind you, I'm coming from an Astra H which rattled, creaked and groaned like you wouldn't believe.

Had my Mk3 since April. have the occasional creaking from either the passenger A- pillar or the door card. Mine also seems to be more apparent when its cold. Otherwise no rattles or groans.
Had a 61 plate Mk2 FR 1.4 prior for about 18 months, seemed to be very solid, not 1 rattle or creak. Lovely car, but just disappointed with the petrol consumption and brittle ride. My Mk3 1.2TSI is so much more efficient while not lacking in power and gives a great blend of comfort and sportiness (despite the cheaper rear suspension)...its a great car.

Thanks for the usefull info eyesonly. If you get chance, please could you post on here. Cheers.

I hope I'm not sounding to negative about this car as I absolutely love it - only theses slight build issues botheri gme really. The 184 diesel is proving to be an incredible engine. Had the 177 diesel in the 3 series before this and I think this vw engine is far better.

DeanC, you mention that you ate waiting door seals to be fixed? I've noticed that my passenger door seems to hold water and it all drains away when opening the door. Is this the same issue as yours?

Mine did not seal properly:

Ah ok, cheers for the reply. Seems mine has a different fault.

All cars will drain form the bottom of the door as there are drainage holes there so water does not collect inside the door and rust it from the inside out.

Some unfortunate cases above!

Fortunately I've covered just shy of 10,000 miles now in mine and the most irritating thing so far has been the eco-reminder to not let the engine run idle if I don't immediately pull away when I start her up!

Which can be turned off - I just don't find it THAT irritating. :p
