Very high clutch bitting point!

I brought a used seat ibiza 1.4 sport, it's done 86,000 miles and the clutch has never been changed. I;ve had it for 3 months and find it sooo hard to drive! Whenever I wish to pull off it takes about 3-4 seconds before the car acctully moves and gets on with it. It annoys other drivers as they flash me out and I try to go but the clutch bitting point is so high it takes me ages to move meaning i'm constantly having to think ahead. Do all your seat ibizas have a very high clutch bitting point or is it just mine? Thanks

I think that's just the car - mines a 2004 Ibiza 1.4 SX and 42,000 miles. Mine is 75ps and when I first got it I found it really hard to drive and kept stalling it. You have to get the revs just right when pulling away or the engine hits a flat spot and it stalls easily. You do get used to it.

It's a shame but I don't think it's a problem it's just he way it is... sorry!

I do like my Ibiza but the 1.4 engine was probably not the best to have gone for.. still I've lived with it for 3 1/2 years! I found the 1.2 much easier to drive when I had it as a courtesy car.

EDIT: Not sure that what's described in my post above would be the same as your "biting point" problem so perhaps the clutch does need looking at - however the performance of the car at that rev range is non-spectacular too so you could be having problems because of a combination of the two.

i found all the petrol beezers ive driven so far to have fairly high bite points,

I know it may seem daft but i like you struggled at first, but the way i got round it was to put the seat further back and use the rake reach feature on the wheel and pull it further towards myself until i found the point whereby i was a comfy distance away where i could still push the clutch below bite and still reach the wheel.

The diesel i now have does have a lower bite point than the petrol, but in all honesty, i think i prefered the petrols bite point, purely as it was quicker to change gears.

EDIT: I had a 04 1.2 sx and 08 1.4 Sport 100
