Very strange noise from car...

Was putting Dielectric Silicone onto my MAF connection tonight and while doing it I could hear this strange noise... it seems to be coming from the front right of my car.

The car had been powered off for about 30 minutes at this time... I've made a recording on my mobile and uploaded it.

Any ideas... it's a real strange noise IMO!

It sounds like that but I can't see anything... and its constant.

Ignition was off... car was unlocked at the time also.

holy crap dude, it sounds like an alarm in a james bond movie, like hwen the bad guys lair is being steadily destroyed by it's inept employees with grenades. is the engine warning light not on?

Tell me about it.

No lights on in the engine bay, car runs perfect and the alarm is working as it should do also.

Just can't put my finger on what on earth it could be?

I'm no expert but I seem to remember that after switch off a pump continues running to pump cold water round the engine. If i'm remembering right ait could be this pump but its a bit fooked?

Just a guess though mate!

You could be right mate... I should have went back out and checked it after an hour. I'll keep an eye on it and see if that's what it is. Cheers
