Before you decide mate, wait till Clive gets his back and get a passenger rideAaaaah, too many turbos!
At the moment the JBS Twin Scroll is my front runner. Costs about the same as their IHI/GT hybrid inc. the manifold etc. Supposed to give lower spool than the standard VF34 and is capable of 400BHP with standard intake (or so they say!)
Power goal is 350+
I was always told the Garretts were laggy compared to the IHIs, which is why I started looking at IHIs originally. The Eliminator kit does have some advantages, being relatively cheap, as (AFAIK) you can run it from the original manifold, but that does leave quite a substantial restriction to its potential.
I am looking at Garret based kits for the 225 TT engine and I've looked at the dyno plots that Awesome post on their website of the APR 3+ kit, the graphs do look ok for the GT28RS kit on a 150/180 Golf with the new torque and power curves being above those of the stock KO3sLaggy????
I've been running my Golf with APR Stage 3+ which uses Garrett GT28RS turbo and is only marginally laggier than KO3s.
Good spool from just over 2000 rpm and is pulling well and truly at 2500 rpm.
Peak torque at just over 3100 and it pulls like a train to over 7k.

however the plots from their GT2871RS kit for the 225 engine is not so good, it looks like until you get to 3500 rpm you have less power with the GT2871RS than the stock K04, let alone a remapped one.

Unless I am reading these wrong?
I am looking for a turbo for a 225 Quattro TT.
The 28RS looks like a good conversion for the 150/180 engines, but the 2871RS looks not so good (according to these plots) for the 225 engine.
When you say the 2871RS plot being ATW, I am assuming you mean Torqu redings, for BHP says they are plotting "Clutch Power", and 383BHP is about right according to their claims. Regardless of where the torque is being measured, as a comparisson between the stock K04 and the GT2871RS, it would appear the Garrett is considerably laggier than the KO4 - which is what everyone has told me and what I said initially!
I am just trying to gauge which Big Turbo has the least lag, from what I have been told a good IHI set up will be better than an equivalent Garrett one.
At the moment am in discussion with JBS about their Twin Scroll, which they claim spools up at similar revs to the K04.
Awesome are too far away to go and drive their demo car, plus their kits are expensive compared to other Garrett ones and IHI ones from other companies.
