Hi all,

been offered a vibe 10" active sub, what kit do I need to install it? I have the standard cd player still in my car too.

Cheers

Shouldn't this be in the ICE section?

The active subs are quite nifty in that, iirc, you don't need a separate amp. You'll still need power to the sub, an earth and a signal from the HU.

is it this one?

You can still use the standard HU but I found it easier to upgrade it all at the same time.

Not a big fan of these all-in-one jobbies - no flexibility...but if you're getting it on the cheap you can't really complain

yeah it is that one, being a poor student i cant afford a head unit! lol

can get the sub - used but in good condition for £85

do i need something to stop the sub playing the normal music instead of just the bass

Doubt it.

A separate amp usually has a crossover that you can tune to High Pass/Low Pass/Flat as appropriate to which speakers it's running.

I'd imagine this one will be tuned to 'flat' strictly for subwoofer use.

From the grainy pic on that webby it looks like there's a switch of some sort - might be a crossover. Doesn't make much odds really but I can't find a pic on Vibe's official website.

that sub/amp package is awsome it make not look all that but it deffinally sounds like it! i viabrated my mk3 fiesta's boot off its hinges with mine! woops! i played mine through my sub pre out but the amp does have a frequncy dial u can turn to get it how u want it... Loud i guess?

ive got this in my car you need amp wiring kit and other thing to use standard head unit is an rca output plug cost me 14 quid and the sound is good enough with everything else standard.
http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/preamp.asp link for rca outputs and built in remote wire for amp, plugs into mini iso's on headunit

mine plays very fenint voices and that but you can only just hear if you get right up to it
