Right, this is all I can add, I have a late 2009
Ibiza, built in October 2009 and its "10th from the left" identifier is A also I have an early 2011 S4 , built in January 2011 and its "10th from the left" identifier is B !!
Now all I can suggest is, that my
Ibiza is a 2010MY car and the S4 is a 2011MY car.
So, from that it would appear that your 07 reg'd
Ibiza was built after the start of 2008MY, ie after July or August 2007 and so it's VIN shows it as being a 2008 car.
Typically, the assembly lines are re-jigged during the workers summer holidays, so when they come back, the cars built are the following year's model build.
Edit:- you used to be able to request, from the main
dealer, a print off of that car's "CAR DATA" - that was a very useful document especially for buying parts as the car got older, as it listed all the options fitted to the car, which include basic factory build options as opposed to customer requested extras - though it lists them as well. If I remember correctly it also contained the production calendar that that car went into build.
Also, the fact that that car was built and reg'd so quickly could be due to it being a factory order and the customer not given the option to delay reg'ng it on the 57 plate - or a
dealer forcing through some sales at a quiet time to meet targets?
My wife's factory order Polo was built in late July 2015 and reg'd on August 17th - but we had no option due to the tight deal I had negotiated !
