Voltage feeding Seat badge rear hatch handle?

Hi all, the rear hatch on my son's 2016 Seat Ibiza 1.2 has stopped opening except using the emergency white plastic lever inside the hatch trim. I have tested the switch in the Seat badge handle and it is fine and shows zero resistance when operated (I even tried shorting the two green and brown wires coming in and out of the switch to be sure... no change) but I noticed the voltage difference between the green wire feeding the switch and earth is 8.5v or thereabouts. Does anyone know if this is the normal operating voltage for the rear hatch actuator mechanism? I was kinda expecting 12v so it has me stumped. Any help from anyone with knowledge on this system would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
P.s. if any further information or photos would help I will gladly provide. I am a retired domestic electrician so can handle a multimeter and test anything needing tested but car electrics are a bit of a mystery to me...

There is quite a lot on this forum covering this rear hatch issue or issues.
It’s easy to just say “use the search function” but probably in reality unless you get the wording exactly the same as used already in older threads, you’ll find nothing!
So maybe just resort to using Google it should bring you back to this forum and useful threads. This is in no way intended as a stab at this forum, just a weakness of most forums sadly.

Yeah, that was the first thing I did before posting my own question. That was actually what led me to test the handle switch as I discovered the weakness in the cam that pushes the micro switch wearing over time but ruled that out with a quick test. I also found the posts that discuss the weakness with the black connector behind the cover in the bottom left corner as you face the hatch. The person who posted the two before and after photographs after their mechanic cut the green wire either side of the connector and crimped to remove the connector issue was super helpful with that one. I've probably read every post on every forum on the internet with the key words Seat/Ibiza and hatch and as many variations of words for 'not working' as I could think of and have gleaned much information. Sadly I can't find a mention of what this voltage should be anywhere. If you have a Seat that uses this system (covers many years) and a multimeter it would take a minute or two to find the voltage. There is a plug connecting to the the back of the Seat switch that's super easy to pull off (not like some) it can be taken from if anyone wants to help...
