I really fancy doing this conversion this year and know there is a few on here who have already given in to the sound of 6 cylinders.
Just few questions really.
What is needed to buy except for obviously the engine and some better brakes and suspension.
Guessin I will need a better gearbox and driveshafts??
Not expecting it to be a cheap do but just wanted to get an idea of what its going to cost all in

you can keep your driveshafts, but everything else needs to go really

look for a whole setup, you'll even need the gear linkage

just slightly off topic... but where do you guys get a 'doner' car from? for instance a rear ended mk3 1.8T? or in this case a VR6...
and also what price range is there roughly for buying them?
It may be on the cards with some people i know setting up their own buisness but it is all dependant on costs obviously :D

I'm going to be doing the same conversion on my Polo in the next few months. I have already found a few suitable MK3 VR6 donor cars, just look for MOT failures or ones with really grotty bodywork. Few on e-bay,

I plan to get the whole car, strip what I need of it then sell/scrap the rest.
