I've had a few hondas in the past but the non v-tec I found were better, I think the v-tec was over rated too. I know hondas are reliable etc etc but I had the Mk1 toyota Mr2 with the 1.6 non v-tec engine and it totally kicked the hondas ass in every way. Revved up to 8500 rpm and had power all the way up. I found with hondas you have to thrash the **** out of them to get any decent response. The twin cam v-tec was better but still nothing like having a turbo, it's like watching a 1.2 with a large exhaust with all the noise and not enough action tbh.:)
 
Nice wind up btw, I got it a while back, ingenious rick rolling BUT...... I just like taking the piss out of Honda Sh1t-Vics and V-Tac

I know you like V-Tacs as you've declared your love for them by boasting about quarter mile times in previous posts
 
vtec is awesome, but you cant get good pwoer out of them, you have to supercharge or stick a turbo on it
 
Where do you people get this made up nonsense from? You can make huge power from normally aspirated Vtec engines, they are more tunable than many othe engines. Hence why they are so popular.
 
what i meant was you cant just do a remap and get the same power like if you were to remap a cupra for example or something with a turbo

Drive a few and see what you think yourself, I personally wouldn't listen to everything my mates say, also do some googling on the v-tec, it was just a design honda came up with to allow their engines to rev higher, there's no major power band. The twin cam was the better one as the single cam only did the inlet valves but the twin cam did inlet and exhaust and did achieve better hp.:)

i've never seen huge gains from a n/a vtec engine at least not fron 1.6-2.0 variants , most i've seen is with a 2.2 stroker kits which cost sheds loads to do which would work out cheaper to supercharge it so there is no point, now the 3.0 vtec engine in a nsx type r is a good engine but power is already maxed out more or less by the factory at around 300bhp

Don't get me wrong, I like Honda's Type R Vtec's as my Grandad has had a load of them (not owned one myself), Integra, Civics, He's just traded the new shape Civic Type R in and got the Corsa VXR for the 100,000mile (lifetime) warranty as this is his last car purchase and he's loving the turbo grunt.
You can't get that much more out of them in NA form. You have to add a Turbo (which they don't get on well with) or Supercharger (which they seem to like). Even replacing OE air filter and exhaust can result in less bhp as the OE equipment is designed to push out as much power as possible to gain the 100+bhp per litre.

I prefer turbo engines though, I hated the RX8 for the lack of torque and the power not coming in till 7,000rpm, although the 9,000rpm limit was nice. The rotory engines respond well to turbo-charging, why don't you fit a turbocharged RX8 engine and rear wheel drive, that would be different. I'd love to see that done!

hmm, what figures are you talking about ? and i mean without bigger bores and such :)

what is huge ? with a turbo it would be huge yeah 350ish easy but other than that not so huge
