Hi All - I'm new to this but have been lurking for a while.

We ordered a New MK5 Ibiza on Sept 1st, and so far have not received or been given a delivery date, a couple of weeks ago they said it'd be end of Sept/Beginning of Oct. Then last week we phoned again and they said there's still no news.

How long do you think I am going to wait for?

How long you have to wait depends on how many extras you opted for really. If it was standard though it should only be a few weeks, if that. Daniel on here recently got his after waiting a couple of weeks.
We ordered ours at the beginning of september but have to wait until end nov or beg. dec for ours! Count yourself lucky mate! :p

The factory are often on a partial shutdown during August/Sept, this is so the workers can have holidays and it also reduces production. It's necessary to reduce production so they are not making more cars than they can sell.

Production should ramp up a little now, however they have already issued a warning that they want to cut the working hours to reduce production costs.

It's the state of play with nearly all major car manufacturers at the moment. If they have stock of a particular model the wait is obviously reduced. But if you have specified a build to order then it's in the hands of the factory and the production schedule.

They wait until they get a reasonable amount of orders of a particular model then do them all at the same time, rather than just change production schedules for 1 or 2 special orders.

My cousin for example has just bought an Ibiza SC 1.416v in Black, dealer had it in stock with the options she wanted. She took delivery 7 days later. However if she'd ordered a factory order, it would of been a much longer wait.

So does that mean that because we have ordered a 1.4 5dr sport in black with all optional extras its going to take forever as not many people will go for that particular model? I certainly hope not! :(

No it's more model specific really and order volumes. They will build a load of 5 doors together regardless of the particular options. Their may however be more orders for Leon's than 5 door Ibiza's at present. So more production resources will be dedicated to those, then they switch production back to focus on building more Ibiza's and so on.

I would expect that the delays to production is the usual late summer shutdown more than anything.

I didn't ask for any spec ups but as an introductory offer the Garage (Lookers) were including Bluetooth and iPod connection amongst other bits and bobs, so maybe its that that's causing the delay?

I work as a sales exec for a seat main dealer. we cant get hold of any 5DR ibiza's untill december now. The demand has been huge.

The sport coupe has a limited availability aswell, however there are aload of SE and sports available but only in certain colours (white, Red, black, Silver and citrus) and with the same options. These are available for immediate delivery but there is limited stock.

The cars will become more readily available once they have been out longer.

 Still haven't seen one yet.I guess with this recession most people are holding onto their old cars.
Still,i'll wave at the first one i see!.

December ????

We can factory order Ibiza's and normally have them withing 6 weeks

Wifes just ordered a 1.6 SC on Navara Blue, Dealer said it will be about an 8 week wait.
Options included the 17in Alloys and Climate Control

Still nothing.

Should I ring an mither them or will that be a waste o' time?

I'd bell them again mate. I was given an update yesterday and told it'll be starting build in week 43 (we are currently in week 40) and delivered 3 weeks after that. You should be told that much AT LEAST!

so that's at least another 3 weeks. kinell.

I'll give them a shout this afternoon.

More than a joke, I've got to get by in a Hyundai Accent, driving me insane!

We are having the same problems with Ibiza and SC at the moment - Avaliability is scarce to say the least, We only have one SC 1.4se and 3 5 door 1.2s left in stock, there are a couple in free stock but we found the biggest problem being bog standard cars.

Give the dealer a call and he will be able to tell you when the build slot is and add 3-4weeks to that.

hi all, just joined this forum...

i went into a seat dealership on day and the next had ordered the 1.4 Ibiza SC sport. i put the deposit down 4 days later and picked the car up 4 days after that. luckily for me my dealership had just recieved the exact car that i was wanting, with the extras that i was going to buy too....

i was told that if i was to add an other extras on it would be a factory build which would be about 3 months....

they said that if i wanted the galia blue it would be at least three months before i would get it......

but i wanted black anyway.....

oh and i absolutely love the car..... had a 2004 model ibiza previous...
