The message was spotted last Thursday, I sent the dealership a message via SEAT APP, then I found I could do the battery swap myself. I have followed the manual to replace the batteries (having wathed a dealership change the battery) - checking the removed Panasonic battery it recorded 2.97v on the regular key and 2.99v on the spare key, hardly low voltage unless the overall voltage is 3.2v?.

New Batteries are Duracell CR2032 Exp 08/36. Batteries from key fob are original and the car was manufactured in October 2024.

Checked the new batteries work, started engine, a user settings update came up and approved that. Checked perimeter opening works, tried both keys everything looks fine.

Checked App, updated vehicle data and it still shows I need to replace the batteries! Now I know the APP is a pain in the Ar** at times, but I cannot figure out why it still saying the batteries "still" need replacing in the Key fob!

In the past when warnings appear - like the automatic speed indicator is disabled (usually come on in a hospital car park!) the error message goes off dashboard but remains on the App for a day or longer before clearing, but that stopped a couple of update back.

Likewise when I left an adult in the car accidentally locking them in, I could hear the car alarm, but the messages bell (top left) on the app remained white, it wasn't till I checked the App later I wondered why I hadn't had an email or the App buzz.. I clicked on the white notification to see the message and couldn't clear message until after the last App update!

Still waiting for the dealership to come back to me with a ludicrous quote for a battery change.

If anyone can advise - I'll buy them a virtual coffee!

If it's an Android sure it's not a clear notifications thing.

android clear notifications

Pass on the iPhone.

May just need you to clear it ?.

On battery voltages I don't bother to get my meter out now. Generally if the fob doesn't flash red when you press the button its time to change it. There will be a monitoring process in the FOB that says change battery and sends that info that produces a front screen message and in your case the app telling you.

Im on IOS and the notification a Warning message is built in to the App. No way of clearing it sadly.

Not much joy as I don't get notifications from My SEAT App like I would from text or whats app. They are all in the App itself. Will drop digital support a message, there was an update last week to the App that might have broke something else - like the car is 2 years old it needs a new key fob battery.

Just checked the voltage on the new batteries - all over 3.2 v

Well after a few days contact with CIC emails - they have referred me to the dealership - who incidentally still have not responded to my battery service request or the copied communications with CIC

Now I know the new batteries work, they are recording 3.2n volts, so higher than the 2.99 that still worked despite the message.

Whilst waiting for a response i looked at the Audi Forum to see similar issues with batteries, one suggested remove the battery press a button on the key then reinsert the battery... I can see where they were coming from but it only seemed to work on Audi.

My other thought is it Duracell Batteries? I have noticed they have slightly different build when comparing them side on, to the Panasonic originals.

Here is what was suggested by Seat CIC Emails

Delete the App, this coincided with the 26 October T&C update so was a bit messy.
Ensure the app and data was removed from the iphone
Reboot iphone (its a 13 btw)
Reset infotainment system
delete my Primary User Account
install App
Spend 40 minutes trying to get Primary User accepted (remember start it with engine off in future!)
Primary User Accepted
Software downloaded, checked store page to see information.
ID Check completed so can remote open and close
Wait another 30 mins for the app to open up correctly
refresh vehicle
Check App

And yes the fault displayed on the app remains.

I will email Listers copy in the service manager and the other contacts I have and hope and pray they will sort this out. I am amazed at how the app is so buggy - 2 mths back I had a week of it telling me to update the app, when it was already updated. Now this - Im not touching the batterie in the remote for a week just to see if this is a similar glitch to the update app message..... It is poor, really for a company that is owned by VAG (that owns Bugatti) you would expect perfection

Just changed the Arona battery (pre 2020)... no issues here 😁.

Perhaps going for a drive sent a data burst after... who knows. The ignition start did the refresh. Will be 1 or 3 on those fixes. 2 not the battery.

Bit of a performance. We just had to isolate which key was triggering the front screen warning. No pesky app to deal with.
