weird noise on startup??:confused:

ye riko thats kind of what it sounds like how much were the mounts mate?
 
i had this ripped out and resistors in place in fact i had it all ripped out . tommy can vote for that and never had a problem with lights codes ect . sai is a pain when packs up i have 2 spare now as mine will be coming out soon[B)]
 
i have a few things to sort out a min dude ill be down dinner time mate hopefully. rip that pump out for ya .

check your twinky valve next to ninky nonk . that should sort it :lol:
 
ye my twinky valve is on its way out guna have to drop the hole engine to get at it lol
 
right disconnected sai still have the noise i would say it was kinda a screeching noise, dave reckons its oil pick up pipe or oil pump so the sump is coming off tommorw
 
after more reading i suspect he may be right as the cam chain tensioner may not be getting enough oil on intiall startup up breifly so hopefully cleaning oil pick up pipe will solve this fingers crossed
 
right after even more searching and searching for noises on youtube for hours (dont ask) and searching other forums i think it maybe the starter motor and it needs regreasing from the sound being suggested by others lets see what tommoro brings.....
 
ok well wat a day, me and daves ibiza big shout out to him for his help btw got the sump off today and found pretty much nothing wrong with oil pick up pipe gave it a clean anyway, and cleaned up the sump a bit for 94k i was expecting for it to be worse tbh, wacked it back on with some fresh oil and is now running well but still getting a bit of noise on startup but it all points towards starter motor from the noise made?
 
right ok still getting this noise on startup kinda ruled out starter motor as if u tap acclerator during choke you hear the noise and i think the starter motor disengauges?, i got feeling its a bearing but where is the question, i have removed sai, replaced aux belt and tensioner, my feeling is alternator or aircon (aircon rad has been removed) any help or simliar experiences would be usefull really pi$$ing me off now, only happens when it is cold and usually last for a secound when starting like a whining screech and again if revved during choke??:confused:
 
I would put money on starter motor mate very common on some of the vag engines, both of my previous MK4 Golfs did it, my first one did it every now and then mostly when cold this was a 1.4 16V engine and my last one which was the 1.8 20V non-turbo engine did it every time it was started pretty much and was very annoying did not make a single difference to the car, apparantly the armitures etc. get filthy over time inside the motor and they begin to make noise, can be cleaned out and it will probably solve it for a while but it will come back and the only true way to get rid is to get a new starter mate, thats my estimation anyway I know it is a very common fault on them.
 
hmm well my mates got a starter motor for me to put in does anyone now if the starter motor disengauges from the flywheel after starting or not?
 
hmm if it does disengauge then im back to square 20 lol ye ive tried just sounds really muffled with my phone you cant really hear it
