weird turbo response

Hopefully someone can reassure me that my turbo isnt about to die:(

If i'm in 1st or 2nd gear and accelerate gently (just driving normally) I can hear the turbo sucking (have induction kit). As it reaches around 2k rpm, the turbo feels like it dies, I hear the pressure dump and the car power cuts dramatically.

If I give it some then everything is fine.

Could it be that there is just quite a harsh line between when the turbo is on and when it is off, and because of the gearing (being in 1st or 2nd) i'm feeling the power cut more as the turbo dumps?

sorry for the crap description, hopefully someone/everyone experiences the same making this normal...

try it with the tcs turned off and see if it still happens. my car dumps in first and second if it breaks traction and sometimes the light on the dash doesn't flicker on.

I onyl notice this when driving very gently like just pulling out of my driving, as it reaches around 2k rpm the turbo dumps, is it normal for it to spin up like this with so little throttle?

maybe you're getting to a point where the turbo starts to spool up then it dumps because the boost isn't needed, who knows? 2K? i doubt my turbo has got any boost to dump that low down the rev range!

Mine does this too. I just put it down to the engine warming up or something.
Would a duff N75 cause this?
If it's not normal I think I should get it sorted pronto, I'm going in for a remap next week.

Turbo dumping

Mine does this especially when cold. I put it down to the Forge DV being much more sensitive than the old Bosch unit. Also the LC does boost at a much lower level than the LCR. I think the turbo spins up at 1600rpm. If i use a very small throttle, then the DV opens prematurely. Stops when driving on normal roads and when the engine is warm. If that is what yours is doing then its probably ok. it does cause the engine to stutter a little though as its a sudden change, boost, no boost but the throttle is about the same. It is common in the Golf IV as well.

thanks for the reassurance guys, sounds like it's just a characteristic of the enginge, especially if a non standard dv is fitted.
