Hi all
since monday, my car has started making a weird vibration on idle, as soon as i go to move the vibration stops, i checked the mounts on the engine, the one on the drivers side of the engine is fine, very little movement, but the one below the airbox has quite a bit of play to it, loads more movement than the other side, anybody had this problem or know what it is, i have a uprated dog bone mount and before you ask its not that lol

anybody know??

cheers

you still on the oem DMF mate? does it stop when the clutch is engaged?

nah mate, ive got a uprated SMF flywheel and clutch, but the garage my car is in today having all my wishbone bushes done said its the mount below the airbox, so they are going to replace that aswell today if they can get the mount in from somewhere:)

I got exactly the same bloody thing, its something on the steering column for me

I honestly think it's my engine mount on the gearbox side just below the airbox, it has lots of play in it, loads more than the other side

Jonjay sounds the same as mine. Took me ages to track it down.
Air con pipes run very close to bulkhead and have a tendancy to vibrate against the bulkhead and also vibrate against brake lines in close proximity.(very poor design) you have to remove plastic panel to access the engine from underneath. For me the vibration sounded like it was behind the dash steering column, but some subtle bending of the pipes cured the problem. Wedge some rag behind them first and test drive to see if it is this. Mine is quiet as a mouse now, no rattles or vibrations.
Not sure if this helps, but just my experience.

ill have a look at this tommorow, ive got a new engine mount going on on friday aswell

No problem. I hope this is what it is because I almost got to the point of offloading mine :(
Endless hours spent with the dash removed / under the car etc. But GOD it feels good when its sorted
I sincerely hope so too. I got new clutch, big turbo and differential then all of a sudden the sweet ride got crippled by this annoying vibration.

With all that work going on under the bonnet it might just be the answer. Also check the brake lines where they leave the servo / master cylinder they are close there too. ;)

brads was boost pipe rubbing on power steering bottle thing lol
sorted now with sponge lol

where i have put a bigger manifold from a pd150 and the egr race delete pipe, i had to get a 57-51mm reducer and this has caused the pipe to vibrate on the power steering fluid bottle, sponger has now sorted it :D

I had a vibration on mine a couple of months back. Just in case anybodies is the same, check the air ducting pipe that runs along the inner wing and the battery area. The pipe had broken clips on it causing it to vibrate.Good old silicone sealant fixed it.
