You have alot of good advise there from some serious barginers.
There are only few points that I can add...
Some garages have three monthly sales targets instead of monthly
If you are offered a very good deal and there are the same cars somewhere else don't be scared to tell the guy that you will go and think about it. And do walk out.... go to another
dealer and put your cards on the table and say if you can beat this deal you will get a sale today. He
will bite your hand off.
Cash is the only way, if you can afford to wait till August and afford to be with one car for a bit get the cupra sold then walking into a
garage with £15 grand will be a good feeling, you instantly have the upper hand and if you would have been lacking in confidence you will instanly have more. This will also be a way of truely knowing what deal you are getting also. One thing that I have pulled is agree to take something but backing out on it at the last minute, this is underhand but if it helps you get a deal then alls far!!
I was buying a pug 106 GTI, I had a price in my head of what I would pay and was bargining hard to get it, I had said to the sales man that I would take the diamondbrite coating at £250. He knew that he was making a good cut on this so he did the usual bit of consulting the manager, several times. I got the price to what I wanted then told him I didn't want the diamondbrite, he almost spewed, he went white also BUT I got the car!!!
Make sure you go in with a maximum price in your head, don't be scared to show that you really want the car, this will be obvious anyway.
I would pick a
garage that has both the cars you want, buy the Beeza first and at that time mention that you might be interested in the LCR too, this will whett the salesmans appetite and he will start working on you, this again gives you the upper hand.
AND don't mention the diesel beeza to the wife, the cheeper you can get it the more you have to spend on your toy. If you get the beeza first the wife might be a bit more keen to open the purse strings a bit more as she will be well chuffed with her new car
I wish I could be with you to buy these cars, I love doing this sort of thing!!
All the best on this and do let us know how you get on
